Thanks! I ordered 3 cans of the Performix 11287 Graphite Pearl Metalizer. I will pick up the Black at Lowes. They are a couple bucks cheaper than Amazon. So hopefully I will start on it Wed evening. I am thinking going around each wheel will be almost time to come back to the second coat. Take maybe a few hours.
Kind of Excited for changing the look, especially one I can take off it I don't like it. But doubt that will be the case. Plus being a lease easier to remove when that time comes. Though I am planning on keeping it when that time comes.

Sounds legit! Yea, I did the plasti dip to see if I would like the color. I plan on getting them powdered coated pretty soon since they only charge 400$. I like the ease of cleaning on the 5 spoke.

Likely 2 cans of glossifier would be plenty. might even get what you need out of 1. |

Also, how many cans of black to cover the front bumper panel? ALSO - how glossy does the glossifier look? Does it look like a factory paint job? |

I used the glossifier on my heat extractor. The more coats you out on the glossier it gets. I don't think it will ever gets as glossy as paint but definitely glossier than the black itself. The metallizer will make it a little gray from what I have been told and slightly shiny.

Did them today. Thanks for all the pointers WAR and everyone else!
I did about 5 coats of the black 2 or so coats of the Metallizer and 2 coats of the Glossifier. Very happy. The metallizer is very cool. Gives it a very nice real look to it.

Looks great! I love plasti dip as it's not expensive and it seems to hold up pretty well. Mine has not even started chipping so until then I'll keep saving for powder coating for he mrr228 wheels! But, looks great OP!

I'm also planning on plasti dipping my wheels here soon. OP does the metallizer make it a more glossy black? I want it to look as "natual" as possible if that makes sense. I was wondering if I should pick up the metallizer and glossifier or just the glossifier.

Yeah the metallize gives it a nice sparkle to make it look metallic. it has bits of shiny like glitter to make it look like a metal type surface. It doesn't give it much of a shine other than the reflective quality it has at certain spots.
The glossifier will add the shininess to it. The more you add the more shiny it becomes. It will not get as shiny and reflective as the paint on the car or anything, but definitely shines them up some. I didn't want totally matte and this definitely works. Will probably put a couple more coats of Glossifier on it tomorrow. Awesome stuff. I am really liking it. about $25 bucks worth of material. I used a little over 2 cans of black, 1 can of metallizer and put about 2 coats of glossy on it so far. And when it does get scuff or whatever. You can simply redo it. and at WAR's recommendation definitely spend the few bucks to get the spray attachment. Makes it so much easier spraying things. More even in my mind and more control. Almost like a sprayer. My pointer finger would be pretty sore with all the coats and spraying I did today. I am leasing my car so it is a plus that I can take it back off. Though I am planning on buying it at the end of the term as it is a good price. I am in love with my Commemorative and the fact that I haven't seen any around me at all. Really think Chevy should have put the black wheels on it. Definitely can't get over that they left the heat extractor color matched instead of black like the rest of the SS are. Especially with the black accent strip they added and the red and black interior. I already dipped the heat extractor. Though I am thinking of doing that over and using the Metallizer on it at well. Anyway Good Luck!!!

BTW, if you have a Lowes I was able to get the Black there $2 cheaper than Amazon. They had the Glossifier as well. But they didn't carry the metallizer. I ordered that on Amazon along with the Spray Attachment.

Plastidip looks nice but I never liked the stock wheel design. Personally i'd save up and buy black ZL1 replicas.
