Well all they did was replace the lights inside the door panels and the results are exactly the same. You can barely see the lights. They tried to tell me that the 2013 and 2015 are like comparing apples to oranges. But that doesn't make sense. I don't believe the interiors were changed from the 2013 to 2014 then 2015. And why are there still lights in the panel if they didn't want them to be seen? This might seem trivial. But this is an expensive car, and I want the entire experience. They said they would check with the factory and get back to me. I am not happy about this.

My local dealer replaced the door panels today. Result....no change. Apparently there is some sort of design change in the doors that won't allow light to get through like it did on previous models. Doesn't make any sense. Why even have lights in the door if you can't see them? Edit:Actually there is a change. Now there is no light at all. I am taking my car back in Monday. I believe there is a problem with the installation of the light strip that GM knows about and has a service bulletin on. My dealer claims that just the way it is with 2015s. I'm not buying it. This might seem trivial. But this is an expensive car and all the bells and whistles are supposed to function as designed. I don't believe Chevrolet placed a strip of lights inside the panel just for the heck of it. If it works fine, if not, no big deal. I don't buy that. And yes I'm pissed.

You can also PM Chevy customer service here and call GM to see if their techs are aware and have an interest in an acceptable solution.

Already done this. I'm awaiting a call back from GM. And I have another appointment (for all the good this will accomplish) Monday morning at the local Chevy dealer. I find it ludicrous to believe that there is no fix for something that worked beautifully in previous Gen5 editions, especially since there is no apparent change in the interiors of any Gen5 car years. Some might find this trivial but when you buy a product, you expect it to come and operate as advertised.

Your dealer's hands are tied as they are prevented from any R&D work under their franchise agreement.

William (Chevrolet Customer Svc) theoretically has the ability to assist.

There is a tech/engineer level above the dealer you need to get in touch with.

Well my dealer is attempting to modify the door panels they took out since they are used and no longer under warranty, then replacing them in my doors. They are going to try and make the clear section at the top of the panels wider. Also they admitted that now the lights aren't working period. So they will have to repair that issue. They think it is a blown fuse. I'm hopeful for a positive resolution today.

Lights were working, just impossible to see through the door panel. Still no resolution of problem. The service dept. is going to contact the factory and try and find a solution. I can't believe that they can't find an answer to how to get the light to show through the panel. This isn't rocket science or brain surgery.

It is working as originally designed and intended (albeit wrong). Chevy/GM has to send a regional certified/qualified engineer for research & design changes as the franchise is not allowed to alter the car. If the issue is anything like mine, the painted panel simply does not allow enough light to come through while there is an ounce of daylight outside.

I choose to ignore it as I am certain that if push came to shove legally, there is nothing wrong with the car. At most, it is a design flaw and I did not want to go through what you are going through. While not a high priority for me, if it were then I would simply disassemble the door and replace with a brighter and/or pure LED bar.

Would definitely be awesome if you can get the regional GM Engineer involved to help with R&D and find an amicable solution for your vehicle (maybe a service bulletin for the rest of us).

The local solution so far is to rig a double light inside the panel. They showed me how it worked with the door panel disassembled. It is brighter than it was before but still not as good as the 2013 I traded in. The other possible solution was to swap out the door panels from my traded in 2013 with my new car. Only problem there is the stitching is a different color. I may have to settle for the double light.

What is the goal for brightness, my doors have a glow to them not really sure that its supposed to do more than that. Like its a night thing only

In my opinion it is definitely a night thing and on my car I say at night it is bright enough. The only thing I would like to do on mine is make it light up as far forward as it can I don't know why they painted a little part of the front area.

On my 2013, the accent lighting was bright in twi-light. Now even with the 'fix', you have to concentrate on it in the dark until your eyes adjust. This is totally unacceptable. You pay thousands of $$ more for a 2LT over a 1LT or a 2SS over a 1SS, and this is one of the extras you are paying for. GM dropped the ball here.
