Ambient lighting on door for 2015
I just traded in my 2013 Camaro for a 2015 Commemorative Edition. But that is not the point of this thread. I am completely satisfied with everything, especially the fact that the Mylink works perfectly first time everytime. My question is has the ambient lighting on the doors been discontinued for 2015? My 2013 had it and to my knowledge all other Gen5 model years did. But my 2015 does not. I have an appointment to have the ambient light package installed next week and will bring it to their attention if I am informed it should still be a 2015 feature.

Actually just went to the store in the dark of night and discovered it does work but is very faint. On my 2013 it was a very bright blue. It is either red or orange on this car but almost impossible to see unless you look very closely. And yes I adjusted the dash board brightener control to the brightest possible level and it still is nearly impossible to see. Just wondering if this is a defect or done purposely to be less of a distraction to the driver.

You can always swap out the LEDs for brighter ones and maybe sand the plexi tubes to collect more light.. Looking to add it to my 2015 that came without..

I have a 2014 and dimmed it down because they were too bright.

I have 2015 door panels in my 2013 and think the light is jut right to maybe a little on the bright side but never too faint

I can't say for sure but I think the side panels were installed with an adhesive protective cover that were left on when the panels were installed. I can't find any way of peeling them off if that is what they are. I will wait until I take the car in for service and have them take a look. That would explain why there is a dim light showing through.

This is how the side door panel light should look at night. |

Does the 2015 Camaro 1LT have the ambient lighting in the door panels, or just certain models.

No ABL in the 1LT, I had to replace the door panels from an SS. Even the inserts are not interchangeable unless you drill new holes. GM didn't want the 1LT to have it so they made it challenging for us.

I found out yesterday from my local Chevy dealer, there is a recall on the lighting assemblies inside the door panels in the 2015 Camaros. This causes reduced lighting. They have ordered new parts for my car. Hopefully this resolves the problem. Just wondering if they knew about this why they wouldn't make the necessary repairs to any new Camaro before selling them? I guess they figured we wouldn't notice.
