Ouch! I would take it to a dealer. At least you're not paying for it.

I'd find out who does the high-end cars in your area and go there. Dealer paint shops aren't always the highest quality---not saying there aren't good ones out there, but many of the dealers around here got out of the paint business because they weren't able to satisfy and costs to make that happen were overly expensive.

My past paint jobs were done by the shop in our area that does all of the mercedes and jag work...plus he does alot of resto work...so he has some picky customers to deal with. My cars come out amazing.

Sorry to hear about your damage...good luck with the repair!

If you're inclined to go with an independent: I use a small shop that does excellent work, by the name of Al's Body Works:

9815 Beck Cir
Austin, TX 78758-5405
(512) 836-1851

Al painted my Integra and the GFX for my Camaro and did a great job on both. He's been in the business for a long time and "shoots straight."

Take it to a dealer with a reputable body shop. And don't worry, shouldn't take too long... when I got hit, they had my body work done within a week or two. I had to wait longer for internal parts, which took over two months... but yours should be no problem

Or you can go back to dealer to fix it.
The thing is, you could pocket a nice chuck of change while still getting the car fixed like new with OEM replacement parts but at a lower cost than dealer estimate.
Don't you think it's a little unethical to try to make a profit on it?

To the OP: we used Craig's Collision in Fort Worth when my wife was hit in her Volvo. Not sure if there are any in Austin or not. They did outstanding work and I would go back to them.

Anyone in Austin have any recommendations?
My neighbor is the parts man for Roger Beasley collision center, I just had my Silverado fixed from the hail storm in April and they did a great job. They also do a lot of high end exotics and their attention to detail is phenominal.

Ask for Scott Brightwell, tell him his neighbor, David, sent you.

Insist on using only OEM replacement panels for the repair...I can't imagine there are any after market panels out there, but who knows?

Door skin is simply the outer piece of the door. I don't think at this stage of the game there is anything available besides OEM.
