I plan on taking off the inlet hose and checking the screen, along with a flush this weekend and I will let you know if that works.

I've got the exact same problem, hissing at 3k+ rpms whether its moving or still. my question is would either the powertrain or bumper to bumper warranties cover any costs for this at a dealership?
