Not sure if you are planning on changing the oil pump yourself, or if you've already upgraded your cam, but this might be an opportunity to use the $1000+ dollars of labor towards a cam/oil pump upgrade

Is this a L99 or LS3?
Edit, never mind, I see you mentioned it is a LS3. |

TXMDE, sorry to hear about your oil pump man! Parts failures can be a good thing if you use them as an opportunity to upgrade! lol What cam are you thinking of changing to?

TXMDE if you get a chance can you take some pictures of your old oil pump, especially the ID face of the front cover plate.

Pressure and volume have an inverse relationship. According to Boyles Law, and Bernoulli's Principle: "As fluid moves from a wider pipe to a narrower one, the volume of that fluid that moves a given distance in a given time period does not change. But since the width of the narrower pipe is smaller, the fluid must move faster in order to achieve that result. One way to illustrate this is to observe the behavior of a river: in a wide, unconstricted region, it flows slowly, but if its flow is narrowed by canyon walls (for instance), then it speeds up dramatically. The above is a result of the fact that water is a fluid, and having the characteristics of a fluid, it adjusts its shape to fit that of its container or other solid objects it encounters on its path. Since the volume passing through a given length of pipe during a given period of time will be the same, there must be a decrease in pressure. Hence Bernoulli's conclusion: the slower the rate of flow, the higher the pressure, and the faster the rate of flow, the lower the pressure." The last sentence, is where 90% of everyone out there, literally 90%+, thinking in typical everyday terms, gets it wrong .

I wont be tearing it apart until this weekend. I have to change out lifters in my truck first because i use that for work. Ill take the car apart on saturday and see what the problem is. A pump upgrade and a new turbo cam is in store. I havent decided on what to get yet though. Im sure it will be easier on my valve train.

Boyles Law is for a gas not a fluid. Increase the flow of a liquid in a pipe fast enough pressure will increase. Not so with air like in a carb.
