I had the same problem and it was my VTC. I disconnected my battery and had to recalibrate it and it was fine for a couple months and it happened again, so far since I have had mine I think I have had to recalibrate three times but I love my VTC. My only question is will this cause any long term problems??????

*********I found this from my post when I 1st had the problem.........
Alright gang I went to AutoZone last night and they ran the OBD and came up with P2138 code on there three times. From checking here http://www.engine-codes.com/p2138.html they say.........
The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor is installed on the upper end of the accelerator pedal assembly. The sensor detects the accelerator position and sends a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
Accelerator pedal position sensor has two sensors. These sensors are a kind of potentiometers which transform the accelerator pedal position into output voltage, and emit the voltage signal to the ECM.
In addition, these sensors detect the opening and closing speed of the accelerator pedal and feed the voltage signals to the ECM. The ECM judges the current opening angle of the accelerator pedal from these signals and controls the throttle control motor based on these signals.
Idle position of the accelerator pedal is determined by the ECM receiving the signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. The ECM uses this signal for the engine operation
such as fuel cut.
I put two and two together and came up with its got to be my VTC! I do recall about a day or two before this all happened that my car revved up quite high and I thought my foot hit the gas pedal and I was at fault but this must have been it. So last night I did a reset on my VTC and let’s see if the dash lights come on again?

Thanks.. I truly hope it's just the VTC. I guess it'll be up for sale soon! Haha

Also.... I just got 2 10 inch subs installed with a 2000 watt amp... You think that might be in the issue? The guy was under the steering wheel setting up my bass control somewhere near the VTC wire runs.. Maybe he unplugged something? I just got the subs yesterday

I loved my VTC when I had my V6 but once I got my SS I stopped using it. All you have to do is hit the pedal a little harder and it does the same thing the VTC would do

The VTC connector may have come loose for a second. Mine happened after I hit a bad pothole

I can't see it coming loose really unless you did not attach it correctly. Man that thing was a bit$% to put in but who knows???

Mine is a 2SS/RS and I know it has the power but the VTC just gives it more oomph with so little effort. I don't know maybe its the placebo effect but I like it.

I just hope it's the VTC.. Btw here's the new subs I installed.
2 10's kickers
With ground shaker sealed box and a 2000 watt kicker amp.. It does slap for sure, but I'll enjoy it more when my cars fixed

Same thing happened to mine two weeks ago I unplugged the VTC disco'd the battery for 15-20 minutes then reconnected the ground ran the car for a week without the VTC ran fine. Hooked the VTC back up and reprogrammed it, its been fine the past week.

I think I caused it by showing some one how it worked changing the settings to fast when I started the car

I had the same thing happen twice last summer within a months time. I learned that you can just recalibrate it. Both times I had the car in competition mode, I still don't know if that was a factor. However, I've zero issues since then.

That's the accelerator position. It's your VTC, either recalibrate it or just get rid of it. Depends on if it's worth running the risk of it happening again to you. At least you know it's not serious
