I had this same problem on a previous car I owned. It would miss slightly at idle and would get rough and cut out when giving it the throttle. Turned out I cracked the spark plug on cylinder number 7 during header install and didn't even realize it. I figured it out by pulling each spark plug wire individually to see if the idle changed. Pulling number 7 caused no changes, so I knew I had my culprit. Glad you figured it out!

For the record, we had this figured out before the dealership did...

Exact same symptoms from my car. Glad you got yours figured out as well!

I called my brother and told him what happened, said the forum guys had it spot on. I wish I would have kept it home today to pull the plugs myself and saved a little money.

Thank you guys for your help! Love this forum.

My supercharger also needs to be replaced again so he is going to take care of that for me too.

I will keep this thread updated. Wish me luck!
Are they replacing the SC under warranty knowing that the car is modded???

was there an engine check light when this happened? I am seeing a similar issue, after a run i had slight hiccups at idle i saw that one plug wire was loose. Fit it back but the problem is still there. Checked that plug and it looked fine. Funny thing is that theres no check engine light.

I am getting hp tuner tomorrow and would see if theres a misfire on the scanner

My service tech thought that the reason I am hearing the bad supercharger was from the misfire so he did not think it needed a new one. I did not agree with him.

I am going to go back there or take it to another dealership to have them take care of it. I know its bad, classic sound of a bunch of screws in there. When I had my new one in December it was nice amd quiet.

My spark plug was pretty bad but it did not throw an engine code. It wasn't until the tech hook it up to his scanner that it showed it was a misfire.

They showed me the spark plug and I do not know enough about cars to realize that a small crack can cause the spark plug to not work properly. So even if I did pull the plug I might not have seen it.

Does your stability control say it needs to be serviced? That's what stood out to me beside it struggle to accelerate under heavy load.

lesson learned. Do not perform a header swap with plugs in the head. Sorry, but this is automotive 101. I'm glad you have resolved this issue. Porcelain cracks with minimal force so never attempt a header/manifold install on any car with plugs installed.

No check engine light on mine. You can't always see a crack in the porcelain part of the plug, but if it is there, it will arc out and misfire. You might be able to see the arcing at night unless it only happens under load.

I have yet not had any check engine light or stability control service message. Hopefully my hp tuner would be able to tell the true picture

For sure a lesson learned, next time I am going to pull all of the spark plugs.

Should I check the other spark plugs just to make sure the others dont have any other damage?
