None taken, was thinking the same thing j/k. BTW as to the OP the deck light looks like an LED set up with a Circuit board and not just a bulb.

Heres the summar discriptions of each... let me see if I can find a full text on the web... I found it before because I was checking to make sure the custom lights I'm putting on the maxim will meet DOT standards - let me see if I can find the link.

http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_20...cfr571.108.pdf

Page 71/73 (of the PDF - 306 of the actual document) states the requirement of a third, red identification light mounted as high as feasible on the rear of the vehicle. Apparently it is not required to have a brake light function, mearly a running light function.

But the third light must be there.

P.S. - However, in vehicles where one brake light serves as a turn signal, it MUST be a brake light in order to fulfill the 2 stop lamps requirement.

P.P.S. - it has been brought to my attention that most CHMSLs don't have a running light function - for this I have no explanation. I can merely state that I am NOT a lawyer, and not qualified to interpret any laws. But... theres the full text if you want to read through all of it.

Perhaps the 3rd Brake light fuse is on the same fuse link off the Rear Defog. In the thread on the Sequential Tail Lights there is a post pointing to instructions on installing a 3rd Brake Light Pulser from Webelectric - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...6&postcount=27
follow the link to the poster's instructions and you can see pics of the wiring harness - to me this looks like both the Rear Defog and 3rd Brake Light wiring is in the same harness.

Net of all this - check your rear defog to see if its working - if not then its on the same fuse which may be the issue.

Just a thought...

Some dealers are doing all sorts of aftermarket things to the cars they sell (see the bandit camaro) which could be used to violate the warrenty. The was a story on the practice on MS NBC a few years ago VW dealers putting turbos on non turbo cars and selling them as higher end models. Then when the motor blew up they screwed the owners. Sorry for your luck.

Cut the wire and buy the lighted Chevy emblem for the trunk.

Mine quit working too. I disassembled the entire back interior twice to check it. After finding out a replacement is $180 I just ordered the lighted emblem for $100. To get the factory light out you have to remove: both door plastic sills, rear seat, rear backrest, both rear quarter side panels, both rear window triangle panels, and the deck lid. If you do tackle it be warned the deck lid is a major pain in the ass to get out, not sure if there is a trick but I struggled big time with it. It is a known ball buster and not worth it in my opinion.

Yes of course the high mount center brake like is required by the DOT but I don't understand why the DRLs are not. They are in Canada and the Camaro's are made there. Here in FL, these monochromatic cars (other than white) are banging into each other all the time. A dark colored car, on pavement, and in any shade, cannot be seen when it's coming at you! In addition to the Camaro, I have a Toyota minivan which I refuse to sell. It is all one color and I drive with the lights on all the time!!!
