Excessive tire wear

My car only has 5000 miles on it and I noticed that the tires were cupping (feathering as they now call it). At first I was told it was normal but I new better. With my persistence the dealership put the car on the alignment machine and found out that the camber was off. I was told it probably came from the factory this way. Since the car is so new they had to order a camber kit from Bosch. I also insisted when the camber problem was fixed to put on new tires. They will be doing both when the camber kit comes in. I will keep a posting to on this issue here after the fix and a few miles have gone by. I have been told the tires will still have feathering even with the camber fix. I am anxious to see if this is true.

if you need a camber kit already there may be other issues going on,ive seen enough of these cars on my alignment rack to know there almost always smack in the middle of the given spec, even after doing a 1 inch drop on them they still can be dialed in without the need for aftermaket parts.you may want to have it checked at another shop just for comparison, either way good luck

I asked to get my car aligned at delivery. I told them I would pay. They told me to wait till around 2000 km to let the bushings all set in. They are too spongy at first or something. I only have 3800 km right now. I will get mine done next spring I think.

The Tires seems to wear faster that I was expecting.

And they don't have good grip either!

Ive never done burnouts but my brother and dad have both admitted to doing burnouts in their 2010 camaros and yet i have the least tread out of all 3 camaros.I have no idea why but im suspecting its because i like to take turns sometimes thinking im in the twisties.

most performance tires dont have milage warranty with them, its kind of the nature of the beast,to get the handling of a v or z rated tire you give up milage thats why its very important to keep your alignment in spec and checked at least every 6 months or 6k miles. All it takes is one pot hole and your front or rear toe is thown out a very small amount, find a shop or company that sells a lifetime alignment service, its well worth the 150 bucks and then bring it in for alignment whenever you feel like it.I personally do mine at every oil change,i have 16k on my tires with a 1 inch drop and have no cupping or feathering of the tires.Firestone nationwide over 3500 locations and we honor lifetime alignments in all our locations, good luck fellas
