http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Overvie...-Corvette.html "The reworked standard six-speed manual (a competition six-speed manual exists) shifts lighter and more precisely. And the reprogrammed six-speed automatic paddle-shifted transmission upshifts 30% quicker and downshifts 50-75% faster with throttle blips - how Euro! The fastest automatic transmission production Corvette ever rips through 0-60 regimen in 4.3 seconds. The manual can turn it in 4-seconds flat, topping out at 190 mph. The Vette boys have also revised the steering to be lighter and more precise. One review claims it now approaches BWM territory." We have been told by FBodfather that the auto and manual Camaro will be very close to each other due to tuning on the auto..... |

M6 vs A6 ( Corvette source )
Quote:
I’d say ( based on the list below ) that “in the real world”, the A6 is roughly as quick as the M6 – as configured in the Corvette. #2, #4, #6, #8, and #10 – of the top ten are A6. - Ray Today, a Corvette Coupe driver – with A6 . . . From CorvetteForum.com: THE LIST Regarding correction factors: Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order. ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _______ NEW or IMPROVED ELASPED TIMES Showroom Stock 1 - 11.71 @ 119.94 - AndrewZPSU - 08 M6 - (2590) 2 - 12.16 @ 116.54 - Vinsane112 - 08 A6 2.73 - (2744) 3 - 12.18 @ 117.72 - Hardhattg - 08 Z51 M6 - (2690) 4 - 12.21 @ 115.45 - LS1LT1 - 06 A6 - (1282) 5 - 12.23 @ 115.58 - 06C6FVR - 06 Z51 M6 - (337) 6 - 12.23 @ 112.86 - 940CACC - 08 Z51 A6 - (2880) 7 - 12.31 @ 114.82 - CYA Vett - 05 F55 M6 - (679) 8 - 12.35 @ 117.47 - Bain - 08 A6 2.73 npp - (2759) 9 - 12.40 @ 114.70 - Jschindler - 08 Z51 M6 NPP - (2138) 10 - 12.41 @ 115.38 - HOXXOH - 08 A6 F55 - (2486) http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...93326&page=152 |

I agree, it is close enough that it comes down to the driver and his/her ability to launch it. As I said, I expect that the Camaro will be the same way, which ever is quicker in any particular set of published numbers. It comes down to the driver.

I have a 2SS A6 on order, I think! The dealer took my $1,000 dollars, but I never got anything saying my order is in any exact place on the list of pre-orders. Like number 13,000 or what have you. Anyhow, I keep going back and forth between the two engines and hope I am making the right choice. Is there anything that says one is better than the other or more valuable in the future? Or does it come down to personal preference?

I don't personally like the execturion of tap shift gear selection on the automatic transmission equipped Corvette in comparison to the choice that has been made for Camaro. The Camaro automatic has the right side wheel button selector for upshift and left side button for downshift.
