Thanks all for the words of wisdom. I'll post an update when I make the call on this one. Tough decision, but I'm leaning towards spending less and getting the SS. It will be hard to stomach spending almost twice that on a car. Well...more to follow.

Have you drove both of them? If you do, Im sure you will want the ctsv. But it is a lot more money, and the ss is no slouch either, a beast of a ride and very bad ass. But as another member said check out the audi s5, might be a good in between for you with the styling and luxury of a cadillac but the performance of an ss |

You can't go wrong with either car, but the CTS-V is a beast. If same price, I would have the V.

Camaro. When you see one on the road it just makes everything else look like yesterdays news.
I seen a bumblebee camaro today and almost shit myself. The best way to explain it is if a 60's camaro had sex with a 2030 camaro...it just looks so incredible and futuristic yet has muscle. Im just a big fan if you cant tell. I am torn between a 2008 vette and a new maro because they are about the same price....but the more I see camaros in person I just cant get over how sweet looking they are. I think they are hands down the best looking cars on the road today. |

I guess I will step into it here. I was in the same boat as you. I actually ended up with a certified 2007 STSV for less than a SS Camaro. I needed the four doors. You might see if there is one in your area. The interior is superior to both in my opinion. 469 HP is nothing to laugh at either. And they are quite rare. There was roughly 1000 made per year. I have not seen but one other one on the road. I see a few CTS's and quite a few Camaro's. Check one out if you can. It was a suprising option I was glad to find.

Given the choice the CTS-V would be better depending on what you are willing to spend. |

Price is a funny issue...I'm one who keeps vehicles for a LONG time...hence my 14 yr-old Silverado, I maintain them very well and they last me a long time...so I try to get what I want and not worry too much about the price as long as it's a good value (both are in my eyes). I'm sure I'd be equally happy with either the SS or the V, and I'd likely keep either for a LONG time. The V would indeed put me ahead in comfort/perf dept. Just not sure now is the time for me...after driving the truck for so long and the wife having the fun little 6-spd I'm looking forward for some time behind the wheel of a sports car while I'm still young enough to enjoy the MT. Maybe the SS now and the Caddy when I've outgrown the pony? And in the looks dept...the SS is just shock n awe where as the Caddy takes you a minute and it gradually sinks in that car is something special... sigh... :seesaw:

I think I've decided I'm definitely not ordering/buying anything until the Detroit Auto Show...let's see what everyone has up their sleeves. (no, I'm not interested in the Mustang GT, but what about that CTS-V Coupe...)

It seems you really prefer the SS, so just go with it. But if I had the money, a CTS-V coupe would definitely be in my driveway.
