What scanner are you using to read the pressures? I can't seem to find info on which one to get to read this info.

Disappointing but on the trip today nothing really changed. It starts and runs great but the extra performance is missing. I think it may have something to do with the torque converter or the control circuit for the TC apply. I think the TC is staying locked up tight most of the time so the engine is slow to rev where before it stayed unlocked most of the time. I also just recently serviced the trans and added trans seal conditioner Trans-X. I don't think its going hurt anything except the performance. TC in a v6 car really makes a difference in how it feels power wise. Before I know for sure the engine revved much faster than now. I know the TC staying locked longer because I could never feel the down shifts coming to a stop before. Now I can feel 2 and 1 as I come to a stop. Before I felt nothing coming to a stop. Just a smooth stop with no down shift feel. All this crap started after i was playing with a Challenger.

I need to get a advanced scanning tool that can show me all this and let me turn things off and on. Any idea what I could get in the 300 to 500$ range that is easy to learn and use?

In my experience the fuel quality can very drastically from station to station. What is premium at one station may be only as good as regular at another. My advice? Find a good brand/station and stick with it. Shell is typically good. What could've happened is you had crap gas in there and caused a lot of detonation and the computer retarded timing to keep the engine safe. It can take a few tanks for this to reset itself or you can disconnect the battery overnight and wipe the short term memory to reset things.

I use 1 station, Exxon but that doesn't mean they don't get crappy gas or the pumps don't mix it properly.

Been over 1k miles, tried different gas same thing. Tonight one of these new pickups was on my rear and usually I run away from them easily. Not now, stayed right on my rear. Its got 100k maybe its time for chains? Otherwise I see nothing out of range scanning it, still runs great but lost the grunt it had. Just seems strange after 100k miles it would change like this without any real symptoms other than less power.

Are you losing oil or coolant? It kind of sounds like a loss of compression in a cylinder or two. Might be time for a compression check.

You mentioned a P0301 code and misfiring so i would start with the basics of what triggers those. Any would cause performance loss yet still run acceptable for awhile when normally driven.

BTW something as simple as low oil will trigger the cam phasers to not perform correctly and start misfires.

The po301 code was pending but it went away on its own, the misfires were minor usually cold and that was over 1k ago. I maybe using some coolant, very small amount as far as I can tell so far. With the weather getting colder I always notice less in in the over flow tank. I'm going to have to watch it closely, 1000 miles ago I know it was at 2 dots on the over flow dip stick cold. I have some GM sealing tabs, may drop a few in. Would be a real pisser if right at 100k I get major trouble. If it needs a head gasket I'm going to put chains on it too.

After running the tank low I filled it with prem at a different station. All the power came back. I have to assume the EXXON station is somehow pumping regular as premium. The difference between the 2 is night and day with this car. I checked the coolant today, its the same as 1k ago so its not using any.

Ha! Told you! Yeah, if a station is crappy then it will probably stay crappy. I've seen all sorts of shadyness in order for the station turn a higher profit.

Hard to believe because its a major brand and a big place with a truck terminal and gas for cars. I've been going there for 20 years. But its definitely a gas issue, I would have never believed it otherwise. Who knows maybe its just a bad pump thats not switching fuel. I always use the same pump.

Snowed here today for the 1st time, Camaro says no no no I don't go in the sno sno sno let me lone lone lone.

I just realized the gas at the EXXON station is 20 cents cheaper than any other station around here!
