As a Tanker Driver that delivers fuel, it is the driver's responsibility to put the proper octane into the proper tank. Mistakes do happen, but you won't keep your job if you do.

When I pick up fuel locally, there are only three main sources. All the Gas Stations get fuel from these places. The only difference is the additives for the specific BRANDED Stations. I think some of the UNBRANDED Gas get NO additives.

Not sure how many of you have Ethanol in your fuels, but that can also be a factor in some vehicles. Right now in my area only two brands have Conventional Unleaded, all the rest use Ethanol blended fuels.

Go here for a list of GM approved gas stations.
www.toptiergas.com
Putting any gas in is like adding oil that does not meet GM requirements for automobile engines.

I never use anything but Chevron or Shell. Both were on an approved list I received from my Audi Dealer.

I wonder why Sunoco Canada is mentioned in toptier but not Sunoco USA...

I've been using Shell premium. No complaints so far.

is there a certain reason you're using 93?

In my daily driver, I put in whatever is cheapest since I'll be doing a full drivetrain swap on it once I get my 2010, so I don't care what happens to the current drivetrain.

On my 79 'Maro, I put nothing but Chevron or Shell Super Premium in. She's a hungry Beast, and deserves nothing but the best!

I have had to switch going from WaWa gas to using Shell 93 because my Camaro at 5500 miles started knocking. I put a tank of the 93 in, and it stopped the knocking because the 87 Octane was to low. I have had 2 tanks of gas of Shell 93, so far it has been good. Shell 93 Octane says, it is Nirtogen inriched that helps cleans the valve lifters. But my GTO, I put 87 in it, doesn't seem to bug the lifters.

Right now I mostly buy costco gas for my non-maro and it seems fine. It's cheap and no issues but this is a different kind of car so I was wondering what others have experienced.

Any pros or cons?

thanks!

... Shell is also a "Top Tier" retailer (GM recommends "Top Tier" fuels... page 8-43 of the owners manual).
