IMHO, the way these rags' test cars is a joke anyways. No powershifting, electronic nannies on, etc. I wouldn't trust any magazines to run representative times, with the exception of the likes of GMHTP, Hotrod, Super Chevy, and a couple others. I never take to heart times posted by rags' like MT, R&T, and Edmunds. That's just MHO. I mean comeon; these are the rags' that ran stock LS1 'Maros and 'Birds in the high 13s when Chevy High Performance was running bottom 13s (with the same car in some instances) and when GMHTP ran top 12s; BONE STOCK (with a badass driver though.)

This isn't, obviously confirmed, but I'm truly hopeful. Even moreso, hopeful I could afford it...

This isn't going to change. I've asked this elsewhere, but don't you think GM would be as efficient with weight as much as possible? Why would they built a pig of a car only to pull down it's EPA mileage estimates and possibly put it in gas guzzler territory, especially V6 and base V8 models? The customers of these cars aren't going to want to pay that penalty, so I just don't think they'd make the car heavy without a purpose.

Seriously, if you want a bland, boring coupe that looks like damn near every other car out there, the go buy a Cobalt or Caliber or whatever Mazda you listed times for. When you go show off your new car to your friends, co-workers, and random people, don't expect much of a reaction. Why? Because those cars don't elicit an emotional response like the Camaro does.

Who cares if the Camaro v6 gets beat by a 1/2 a second going to 60. If I wanted to stoplight race with everything out there, I'd buy the SS.

Who the hell would buy a V6 camaro TO race it?

Well the Mustang GT is about 3600... The challenger is about 4000-4100 the charger as well..

EVEN the CORVETTE is over 3000.. Wieghing in about 3200 to 3300.. Or there abouts.

Your dreams of a 3000 Lbs camaro is a Dream ..

The V6 ISn't for racing its for cruising around in and looking :COOL

You Shouldn't RACE on the street anyway! And at the track If you decide to bracket race you get a handicap.. So anyone can win.

Besides all the cars you named that may be faster are 14 second SLUGS anyway.. And Anyone who has been in a FAST car knows 14 seconds is SLOW..
I'm not even going to get into that...

Since when was a 14-second car slow anyways? It isn't fast, but if you recall, it wasn't long ago LT1 Camaros were running low 14s, so I don't think it's as bad as a couple have made it out to be. JMHO.

It is very realistic for the Cobalt SS to outperform the Camaro LS by a few tenths. On the other hand, no magazine has any access to a V6 for testing, so any numbers they develop are imagined.

It just genuinly disapoints me that some people have no faith what so ever in the design team to bring us an amazing car. Appartently C&D, and MT know more about teh car than GM does. So I guess we should all go and listen to the guesses that all the magizenes give, because they have to be right.
Honestly its pretty sad. Just the thought that a believing a mag that knows less about the car than some of us is blasphemy.

I think he means loser. As in someone that loses

I'm not worried.

They said it would be a class leader in performance.

It is a camaro after all

It's a typo. He meant "flosser." The new Camaro will come with an optional dental hygiene package.

Yup, the V6 Camaro is most likely going to get beat by turbo charged economy cars. The Cobalt SS is the fastest front wheel drive car in the world, to the best of my knowledge. But the V6 Camaros will be faster than the Mustang or the Challenger V6's by a rather wide margin. you win some, you lose some.
