I also had the great experiance of the front air dam falling down on me as i was driving down the highway... needless to say by the time I stopped both corners had been melted off!! The dealer didnt instal the rivets.. just 2 way tape and the wheel well bolts.. So now I am looking to buy another front spoiler does anyone have any idea where to find one at a reasonable price? GM wants $1100 just for the front.

Oh yes, I remember the day mine did the same thing. And yes, my dealer did not install the rivets! Call PatrickT, he will help you obtain a spoiler at a reasonable price.

I am sorry to see the damage, derek81. Instead of you paying out of your pocket for the dealer error, I suggest you print out the instructions that show the front rivet installation and take that to the dealer and ask the dealer to provide a new front spoiler free of charge. After all, they caused the problem by taking a shortcut when they installed the front ground effects.

hardware install kit

Anyone have the hardware install kit (rivets/brackets)? The dealer does't sell just the kit.

I needed parts from the ground effects hardware kit so I composed a letter explaining it is ridiculous to buy the entire ground effects kit because the hardware is not sold separately. These folks sent the hardware kit to my dealer, free of charge. I just had to pick it up at the dealership. Give it a try!

Also, if you only need the plastic rivets, the Marson brand, MAR48149 and MAR48150 are extremely close to the OEM plastic rivets. Both are 6.3mm but MAR48150 has a greater grip range. I bought two packs for less than $18 (including shipping) on Amazon.com

Does anyone know if the Wheel Well Brackets for the Rear Diffuser has a part# written on it? I am talking to the GM Product Managers office and it would help if I had a part# for it.

Re-Installing the fascia

Hello,

I couldn't find any specs on the torque of the bolts when re-installing the fascia. Does anyone how tight these need to be? Thank you.

cars are like women, some are old, some are new, some get turned on easily some need a lot more help, some you just wanna drive into the river, some you can't wait to get inside of, some are expensive to maintain, some are low maintenance, however if you treat them right, you'll have her for the rest of your life.....

The major distinction is, the original GM factory SS Front Spoiler uses four rivets to secure the front lip whereas this new GM Service Front Spoiler uses two plastic brackets secured by 13 rivets. You need to remove the front fascia to install the original factory SS front spoiler and you do not remove the front fascia to install the SS Service Factory Spoiler.
The link you posted doesn't work. So I wonder wether the attached pdf in this theread is up-to-date or not...Or I have to follow different instructions according to the construction date of the GFX? If so, where can I find this info and the other instruction manual?

Thank you
