Hello,

I was told today that you need to order a new key with the remote option..... than the dealer can program it to your car.

Hope it's true.... I'll find out more info from the dealer tomorrow.

I was also told about $100.00 for add on.

Good Luck with that. Unless things have changed, I don't believe its that easy.

Just got a e-mail from the dealer... once he has my VIN #, he will order the part.

I asked today and according to gm you can add the remote start to the 1ss. It is 115.00 and 1.2 hours to install. The parts Guy looked it up by vin and GM parts to verify. You cannot install yourself and it was quoted at 250 out the door.

Dude,...with all due respect,...what the hell are you all talking about? What do you mean you CANT have the remote start feature added to a 1SS? I have a 1SS, it didn't come equipped with the remote start feature, but I had it add later on by the dealer. A remote start feature alone is not limited to 2SS', it's a simple feature, you can even have it added via after-market. You mean to tell me, the after market can add a remote start to a 1SS but your dealer can't? That makes no sense, especially since my SS has it. Note: I had it added by my Chevy dealer a month and 1/2 after I got my car.

Now it needs to be ordered specifically for you car, you can't just go purchase it and walk out with it the same day. Your dealer has to order it, then when it comes in, you have to bring the car in and let them install it for you and replace your current key fob. He meant you cannot order your car from the factory with it.

such bs a 1 ss can remote start call onstar say u lost ur key they will unlock it and start it. its just another way for them to get u to get the 2ss. its all in the remote the code is already built in just not used.

Since when can Onstar turn your engine on??? Even if they could you certainly couldn't drive it without a key.

They started my moms trailblazer before. Its a simple computer code built in the on-board computer. I would really like to see what parts they put in and why it takes 1.2 hours to do so.

I like the onstar idea !!

How about this, you get onstar for free for a year..

So why can't you call them to remote start your car for a year ?????????

Anyone tried it?? Just for kicks..

"Onstar, can I help you ?"

"Ya, I'm in the house and it's cold outside. Can you start my car for me??"

It might even stay on longer than 10 min.

Someone should really try this !!! Let us know if it works !!

As far as the 10 min remote start timer..

Why did't the make it connected to the temp sensor and when it is warm it could shut down? could be 2 min , 10 min, 20 min, but it will be warm..
