I have 165,000 on my LFX, V6 (I know, you are asking about the V8s), but I've been using AMSOIL XL 5W30 and Wix filters since I bought the car with 24,000 miles and no oil issues.

Yeah, so, I use Wally World oil (SuperTech) on all of my vehicles. Have been for years and have not had a single oil-burning issue on any of them. It's all about routine maintenance, not magic bullet oil products.
Trying to protect an engine that wasn't maintained properly is another issue, one in which I am not qualified to answer. |

My camaro is a weekend warrior car now with 82k miles. Just been rebuilt crank up and have always used 5w30 Mobil one and Mobil one filter or acdelco. I change the oil every couple of months and usually around 500-750 miles driven. But I do drive hard at times.

Saw independent tests done on those Supertech filters and they scored very well.
Supertech oil tested very well also and it's what I run in my daily and daughters car.

Do you guys find it more affordable or satisfying doing the oil change outs yourself? or going to a place to have the service provided for the oil change?

No one touches my car for anything other than me.

Yes. It's cheaper, more reliable, and still enjoyable. Then again, I'm on the good side of 50. Ask me when I turn 70 and I'm sure my tune will change. We'll all probably be stuck in EVs at that time, anyway, so it may be a moot point. |

I’ve always done my own oil changes. I used to work for a dealership and see the oil that used to come to us to put into cars. That oil looked already dirty going in and the tins we used where nasty. But also giving some place the oil and filter to do it, I can’t see paying someone to do it when I do it in my driveway in 5 mins.
