When I had my 69 painted the painter "did my a favor" and cut and polished it for free. Lucky me. The car was one big swirl. It looked horrible. A friend brought over his Zaino "Z-PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner and Swirl Remover" along with his Porter-Cable Dual Action buffer. It took about 8 hours but we were able to polish out 90% of the swirls without burning the paint. The trick is to remove the swirls by polishing the clear coat. Then there is no need to fill in the swirl marks with wax or any other fillers. I used other Zaino products to protect the finish. I can provide more info if anyone is interested.

This is a common problem with many detail products they appear they are removing imperfections but only hiding.

Agreed re the arm-chair detailers using sub-par products and techniques and typically a glaze to fill in any final marring they were incapable of fixing.

I hope these products do not have any abrasive in them, if so you remove part of your clearcoat every time you use them, and eventually you will rub through it into the color coat. GM recommends you never use any product with abrasives in them. yes a nice swirlfree finish looks good, but some people go overboard and eventually pay for it by needing a repaint...And you will be footing the bill because GM says not to use those type products on the finish.

I agree 100%! I will refrain from blatantly identifying anyone in my response here but there are some very aggressive 'paint correctors' out there who think they are doing the client justice when in reality they have no idea what they are doing because they do not use a multilevel paint meter when assessing the clear coat of a vehicle prior to beginning a paint correction endeavor.

Here is the scoop! On most cars, a conscientious professional paint corrector can polish a car 50 times and never run the risk of damaging or diminishing the clear coat. Anyone who says "I can get out every single scratch, no problem" is probably not the person you want polishing your car. This is why when you are ready to have your car detailed you go to a professional and not to the cheapest guy out there. The professional invests in training classes/seminars to ensure they have the most current knowledge regarding paint systems and professional grade products, carriers an insurance policy protecting your vehicle from any mishaps that may occur in their shop or parking lot, invests in appropriate and professional grade tools and products, etc.

The requirement for multiple and extensive paint correction processes on one vehicle should and can be limited if you first have the vehicle paint corrected by a professional (when necessary), then by purchasing the appropriate tools, maintain the appearance that was achieved and quite easily, I should add. This is why I always teach my customers proper washing techniques so that in between major details (not paint corrections), the vehicle still looks quite amazing and my job is easier once they return for top-ups. Since I am able to also provide them the exact tools/materials to accomplish this task, 99% of my customers are return customers.

Now I will be teaching car enthusiasts how to correct & polish just like a pro~

The detail studio I own in Vegas performs this service which we refer to as paint correction. Each car and customer expectation will vary. Its nice to give them two options: First option we perform the service at an hourly rate of 70.00 Per Hr Per Man. Second option if their willing to spend the time and effort they will attend one of our detail clinics where we show members from various car clubs how to correct safely without ever damaging or burning the paint.

So if anyone would be interested in attending a gloss-it detail clinic please PM or email me at rich@gloss-it.com.

This isn't removing swirl marks, it is just hiding them by filling them in.
