No, there are different pieces of tubes from what I could pick out on the exploded diagrams. There is a portion integral to the head, with an additional portion that is removable. Which also means 2 seals that could be leaking.
This is why the TSB said to confirm the leak is not above the "head" tubes. |

I would lean toward a sealing issue & pull the cover.

Update:
If anyone is curious, I asked the dealership to clean the oil out of the tubes just to get the car moving again, if only on a temporary basis. This fix was extremely temporary since the problem came back less than 10 minutes after leaving the dealer. I'm probably going to have to get rid of my Camaro because $8,000 is unacceptable for a permanent repair. I'll tow it to an independent shop for a second opinion, but I'm expecting the worst. I never realized how much a loved this car until I was faced with having to lose it. 🙁 |

I would be very surprised if porous “head tubes” could leak that bad all of a sudden. Of course if they pulled the valve cover to check and didn’t reassemble with new seals, that could be a problem.

After reading the TSB the techs were supposed to clean and diagnose the problem, either upper seals or the porosity problem.
Couldn't find in your post what they determined. Sounds like a clean, reset, and here's the bill, thank you.

The service advisor said it was the porosity issue due to a manufacturing defect, and that they have been seeing that more frequently; he offered no other alternative explanation even when I asked him if it was possible the problem was caused by a bad gasket.

If you by chance end up replacing heads, make sure you secretly mark them to make sure they actually get replaced.

!st thing I would do is check crankcase ventilation system. If the any of the holes or hoses are blocked like the crappy vent on the right side of the engine with the tiny holes it could certainly cause such a problem because if high crankcase pressure.

I don't take my car to dealerships anymore. One Chevrolet (Madison, Indiana) Dealer disconnected my MAF sensor because I didn't let him do the extra service that they claimed my car needed. I had them replace a bent Lower Control Arm. Driving the car home the CEL came on I read the code. Figured the most likely cause was the MAF Sensor, discovered that the lock on the Connector was pulled back and the sensor was not fully plugged in. They should never had to open the hood, let alone disconnect the sensor, to replace the Lower Control Arm.
