My dealership had to call in a GM specialist to try to locate and find a noise in my 2005 GTO that I had at that time new. I'd pulled my K&N cold air intake off before taking it in in fear of him voiding my warrenty cause my service manager suggested I take it off just to play it safe.. When he found out he laughed and told me he wished I'd left it on. That he'd like to have seen it. And he did find the noise.

Most service managers will ignore a CAI. However, changing the airflow can affect the a/f ratio, which is enough for GM to void the warranty on the engine. Don't take a chance... keep the old intake and swap it back whenever you take the car for service.

If you were unlucky enough to get a service manager who voided or denied warranty work based on having CAI, does that go into their system or could you just go to a different service center and try to get a service manager who does not have a problem with it and would not see that you were denied elsewhere?

They can't void your warrenty because of a cold air intake!! GM even sells what they call a cold air intake (not available on Camaro yet) The one they sell for the GTO and when available will be on the Camaro is basically a polished tube and polished cover for the box and an air filter simular to k&n but a dry filter. But yes if I was concerned as I was I would put factory back on for engine service just to eliminate any hassle from an uninformed service manager. But bottom line is they can not void your warrenty.

My dealer won't even replace a scratched mirror glass (from factory) that I didn't notice to I get the car home. How'd you get a door ding warranted?
