Does this mean the octane table resetting issues have been corrected, since he does feel a difference in the octanes without doing a 5-20 fuse pull? If it has I missed all that info somehow.

heh... do some logging and check your KR with the Shell gas...

when I first got my monte 4.5 years ago, I used shell v-power for a while... then once I started logging, I noticed that I had a BUNCH of KR....

so once I saw that, I ran that tank out, and put in Mobil 93, and after about 1/4 to 1/2 tank, the KR virtually disappeared...

needless to say, I don't use shell in anything anymore, not even my lawn mowers...

so, just because they're on the top-tier list, doesn't mean they're THAT much better than anyone else... they just paid to get on that list...

Mobil's not on that list, and neither is sunoco, (at least they weren't when I last looked at the list a couple years ago) but they are two of the best brands/quality of gas around...

I know quite a few car dealerships in the area who fill up with nothing but 87... Even though 91 is required!

I just bought mine yesterday... and I'm pretty sure they filled it up with 87 while I was finalizing all my paperwork. It's got some minor knocking coming from the engine and it just doesn't "feel" right when I get on it. I mean dont get me wrong, it's still FAST but, it seems like there may be some flat spots at WOT like the the 87 octane isn't satisfying my new baby.

What's it doing at WOT one day old?

Hope it's a lease.

Being driven. People are allowed to do whatever they want with their cars, that includes driving them how they want. Don't bring that crap into this thread.

WaWa has dirty gas even if you put their so called 93 in. I have switched to Shell, and my Camaro run's find on it. Now my Camaro doesn't do WaWa.

Anyone know if it makes a difference on the V6? The manual actually says specifically to use 87 octane but i'm kind of wondering....

In the v8's if you use lower than what's recommended it will go to a lower performance setting based on the octane of the fuel. I don't believe the V6 has a different performance 'setting' when going to a higher octane.

post 1k!

Correct. The v6 car is designed for 87, we don't get the seperate octane maps the SS guys /gals get.

Does that mean performance will be better, worse? I think gas quality will determine that. I've noticed just as much KR using higher octane gas here in my area as running 87. Difference is all the higher octane stuff is E10, while the 87 is pure gas.

Ashamed to admit it but didn't find out until recently I needed to be running high octane. I'll have to see if it makes a difference the next time I fill up. Only filled up three times so far anyway....
The SS is not premium only, it is recommended that you use premium. My dad never put premium in his SS, neither did his boss who had one. It had no issues at all, some of them were pre-production models as well.
