Sports car = 2 door, 2 seats if you are going by true standards.

Heritage: They Camaros of old were highly regarded. Even if you were a Ford guy, you knew exactly what a Camaro was. It was everywhere, it looked good, and it performed well in professional competitions. GM made the 5thgen with that in mind, but they didn't let it take over. They built a car that did the Camaro name justice. Additionally, everyone knows someone who's owned a Camaro at some point in time. For me, my Dad still has his '79 resting in the Garage right now. The car has created emotional ties, and that's why it's still around. Design: Self-explanatory...this is one of the best-looking cars in the WORLD. And design is something you can pit up against a car of any price. The 5thgen's look just kicks A$$!! Of course, looks are subjective, and not everyone will agree...but most do. And most is what matters. Technology: The car is loaded with the most recent tech. Bluetooth, Homelink, PDIM, Stabilitrac, Launch control, AFM, VVT, 6-speed paddle-shifted autos, Direct Injection, full airbags, etc, etc. I love gadgets...and the Camaro delivers!! Does it have everything? No. Of course not --- but it comes standard with many respectable features, and offers many more. NOBODY can argue that this car is not modern....and I think that's what I like most about the tech invested into it. Performance: The Camaro is one of VERY few cars that offer 400+hp for $30k in the US. In Europe you'd need to spend 50 grand to get that kind of power and you'd get taxed up the behind based on engine displacement, same in Asia except they offer very few cars besides the point of cost. Beyond power, it's got a competent suspension, and other performance-oriented features like an "off" setting for Stabilitrack. It will compete with vehicles costing much more than it, and it'll compete handsomely. And we all know the many compromises that were made in the name of design...imagine if the team set out to build a purpose-built, street-legal performance car. ![]() Practicality: The fact that I have 430hp under my right foot, and only need to wait 4.6 seconds to reach the highway speed limit....yet I have seating capacity for four, and lots of trunkspace for luggage or groceries makes me giggle like a schoolgirl. That's like oil and vinegar -- the two characteristics are not supposed to mix....but they do!!!! Sure...many other vehicles are practical. Heck -- 90% of the cars on the road are nothing BUT practical...they don't have that fun-factor to go along with it, though. Value: Read the above -- and realize you only need to spend $23,000 dollars to get it! THAT's value. ![]() Community: Look where we are...The Malibu is a wonderful vehicle. But how many people has it brought together? The Bugatti Veyron is debatably the fastest Luxury Sports Car in the world...it has everything. But how many people has it brought together? (drooling over it doesn't count)...The wide appeal of this car has attracted many people together...and we've just come to like each other (most of the time ). No offense met, but the Mustang is a scattered crowd...with 100s of comparably-sized forums out there on the net. I can count 4, maybe 5 high-profile Camaro enthusiast websites out there, and many enthusiasts are members of more than one.Did I mention I love this car? EDIT: Not for anything...but I don't consider the Camaro a muscle car, anymore. The premise of the muscle car was to stick a big engine into a small car. /End. They didn't care very much about handling, and didn't care too much about anything other than going fast in a car that normally wouldn't be. The car had "muscle" where others didn't. Today....The car is about much more than a big engine. It's fast...sure. But it also handles great, rides comfortably, it's up-to-date, and it looks damn good doing it. If the Aston Martin DB9 is a Sports Car...then so is the Camaro. EDIT (2): It may also be considered, accurately imo, a GT coupe. ("Grand Touring") |

Hate to say it because Top Gear is generally right about the people that drive them, but the M3 is the best for under 75K.

Lotus Elise; The MSRP for American Elise models are $47,250 for the base model and $54,990 for the Elise SC.
