I'll be honest, they are surprising the hell out of me. They've got a good product lineup...and they played the PR game like a pro through summer...Impressive.

I'm very happy with GM's state right now, though...they're clearly no longer focused on being #1 in volume, but rather #1 in other areas....and to me, that's what counts. I've been waiting for the day that shift in thinking would happen.

That might be true globally, but not in the US. Its 'only' been 12 years, according to Autoblog.

What "other areas" are they focused at being #1 at? I like how the GM faithful put a spin on everything. If they outsell everyone, it's "shoot up a flare. GM's #1 in sales." If someone else outsells them, then it's, "that's not really important."

Every month we get a report on here about the Camaro outselling the Mustang and how great that is.

Excuse me, Mr. Bullitt,

But I've been saying that forever. I did not switch songs because they were outsold. I want them to be smaller. I want them to be successful and profitable...being the #1 largest producer and seller of automobiles is a FAR third, and I've maintained that opinion ever since I've joined this site. It places a bright spotlight on the manufacturer, and places undue attention on their affairs causing increased stress and self-consciousness among employees.

And for the record, I'm talking about areas like Customer Service, Innovation and Cutting-Edge Technologies. Luxury vehicles, and unabashed performance are not lost on the new GM. A class-leading (for a time) Mid-sized sedan, and soon a class-leading Compact. I am more interested in Quality, Value, and service than anything else -- and GM is delivering.

Get off your high horse and put your nose down, thank you.

Some of the people here depend on GM for the majority of their income, something you'll never understand.

Problem now is, we can't get cars and trucks fast enough....Traverse line was down for a while, and we sold them out, Equinox is selling faster than we can get them, Malibu's are getting short, trucks are slow to get and no diesels for a while.......Cobalts, Camaro's and Impala's, I've got 'em! But there's times when I think the shortages make people drive over to a well stocked Ford lot.
