Mine sounds solid, and even if it didn't I will always say no to window frames.

Rosie, sounds as solid as a rock.
I used to have a 1985 Isuzu Trooper II, now that car sounded cheap, which it was, but it was a solid as a rock durabilitywise. It's all perception. I like the sound ofmy door closing. I like the window indexing to relieve resistant air pressure. I thought it was pretty cool the first time I saw it on a Mustang.

Mine sounds solid except for the slight squeak from the glass hitting the rubber part. That might be adjustable but it doesnt seem to hurt anything.

Mine sounds solid as hell. Maybe the OP should go get a 3rd gen with 150K or more and then talk about cheap sounding doors closure. You close those older ones and they continue to make noises even up to the time you go in the house.

I agree with the OP...
Here's a good example... close the door on a C6 Corvette, and compare the sound to closing the door on a 2010 Camaro. Night and day. You'd be surprised how much money and time is invested in the way a door sounds when it shuts. Close the door on a BMW, and compare that to the sound of the door shutting on an Aveo. It's a result of materials used coupled with the fit and finish of the vehicle. Then again... I worked in the auto industry and was kind of forced to pay attention to minute details like this.

I'd never say it's a reason to get rid of the car... I'm just saying there's a definite difference compared to other vehicles.

It has to be something with the window indexing and air pressure just like Dragoneye said because My GT500 is the same way. It's the only thing I don't like about the car. My old beater jeep has a more solid feel to the doors than both my mustang and camaro.

I find it funny how people will equate sound or touch with Quality...Just beacuse something does not sound solid, does not mean it is not a quality product. Also for those that think the interior feels cheap because it isn't "Soft touch" material. I say the same thing.. Sound and feel isn't everything, It's just a perception...

Dang some of ya'll are pickey as hell
I mean this isn't a 55,000 BMW were riding in. With that said I just took my door off to improve the terrible sightlines.LMAO just having fun with ya mine seems solid but the window indexing sounds different than without. |

I understand what you are saying. Mine kinda sounds like something is loose when you shut the door. It just doesn't sound solid. And an flimsy sounding door does sound "cheap" no matter what you did pay for it. I would never sell the car cause of it but it would be nice if someone had some useful information about it or even a possible solution to fix it. I had to have my door replaced and just assumed that the shop left out something, it didn't sound like that at first. Maybe it is somewhat common though.
Anybody worked on the inside of the door yet? Anybody with some useful info? |
