I know it doesn't help much but I do on all my cars is have a 500.00 or even 1000.00 dollar deductable on collision and only a 100.00 deductable on comp. The higher deductable on collision offsets the lower one on comp

Hey Camaro Friend,
My Victory Red was Keyed last week and I called my friends at Meguiars for a few tips. Well I used the Ultimate compound 1st,(this is the best stuff-not a miracle but very good) than the 105 polish and finally the Yellow wax. The cut was defintely too deep HOWEVER most of the scratch is not as obvious as before.
Really heart breaking that some a-- hole would do this.
Best of Luck,
Bob

Go pull out your declarations page from your automobile policy, look through your coverages and see if you have comprehensive. Once you find it, call your agent, explain what happened & he/she will help you file a claim, you may not even have a deductible on comprehensive.

There are 2 places where it's been keyed. 1 on the drivers door, about 3-4 inches under the door handle, and then another 1, also about 3-4 inches on the panel after the door, moving toward the trunk. Both are deep enough that they've gone down to the enamel, or whatever the white stuff is.

I took it into the Chevy dealer, they confirmed they can't be buffed out. They quoted me around $1500 to get both panels completely repainted.

Worst nightmare, EVER. I can't afford to get the panels completely repainted at this time. I bought some touch-up paint and painted over the scratches, only 1 layer of paint, with my girlfriends eye liner brush because we had a ton of rain coming.

Guys - any thoughts, comments would be appreciated. Can I fix this on my own, do I really need to take it in and pay all that money? The brush over job I've done helps the initial eye sore, but at any near distance it looks awful.

I searched for JunkMan on YouTube as per a few other forum responses. He seems to have more answers for swirls and general detailing than repairing scratches. Any other advice is really appreciated.

Thanks all,
Dave
well this might not be the best advise but i have done it on my tc cause i could not afford to fix it for all the time it has been keyed and also had a rock thrown at my car in front of my house.

ok wax where you put the touch up paint and then get white out and fill the scratch with white out. if possible put painters tape to keep from getting messy. the white out will fill the scratch and then get 1000 grit sand paper and lightly go over the white out to smooth it if you want! thats if you are sure you can be steady enough. then put the touch up paint over it and the white out acts like primer and the paint will stick. then put a nice layer of wax on it. but do not rub hard and to wait alteast an hour for complete dryness.

figured this out being bored, pissed after washing and waxing the car the day before a show to walk out to see some one chucked a rock at my car. JUST before a SHOW i was pissed. ok enough ramble

the only problem with that is the compound takes the paint away. and that spot needs to be well waxed.

thats what i know from a buddy at a body shop.

It is so beyond my comprehension how anyone can do stuff like that. I don't understand how anyone could ever want to go out of their way to hurt or damage other people and their property --- it's just amazing to me. I wish it'd be possible to catch those who do this...

my advice, get an alarm system. park at the same place again and wait to catch that bastard. catch him then beat the living crap out of them. have them take you to their car and key the shit out of their car. see how they feel.

@ spoone123

People who do this are probably to poor to own a car hence the keying, I can't see how anyone, no matter what car they drive, would do this? They sure as hell wouldn't appreciate someone keying thier vehicle. Sickens me when I see threads like this. Sorry about the car TC.

Well people have no right to damage other people properties. We work hard for it. If they're jealous then let them be, but they can't blame you for being poor. If you can't own nice stuff then too bad for them. I could track this way back from when they're in high school. when the teacher tell you to study, your mom and dad tell you to do good in school. I'm glad i listen to them. I'm just sick of this kind of people.

Thanks all for the sympathy and advice, I'll see if I can get a couple of pics loaded here. Spoone123 - will an alarm really be activated if someone keys the car??

Dont get me wrong, I'd love to find the B$%^#@RD, but until then, I'm wondering if there is really a feasible way of avoiding the $1500 to have 2 new panels...UGHHHHH.

Thanks again all,
Dave

Totally agree, I'm not even gonna take mine into a public parking lot, im gonna be very protective of mine when it gets in. I am renting a storage shed like 3 mins from my home so it has it's own home lol.

From what I know, there are very few alarms that will be THAT sensitive, car alarms are mainly meant for break ins. Some alarms won't even work XD. There are super sensitive ones, but they can be a massive pain in the ass. I guy I went to highschool with had a really sensitive alarm and whenever I fart cannon would rev up near it the thing would go off LMFAO

Also you think your camaro got it bad?

Look at this poor guys camaro

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=vandalized

NOW THAT IS BAD!!!
