My baby got KEYED, AAAAARGH. - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I've had my black 2SS for about 3 weeks and someone has keyed it. I am so so so gutted. WHO DOES THIS?!?!

There are 2 places where it's been keyed. 1 on the drivers door, about 3-4 inches under the door handle, and then another 1, also about 3-4 inches on the panel after the door, moving toward the trunk. Both are deep enough that they've gone down to the enamel, or whatever the white stuff is.

I took it into the Chevy dealer, they confirmed they can't be buffed out. They quoted me around $1500 to get both panels completely repainted.

Worst nightmare, EVER. I can't afford to get the panels completely repainted at this time. I bought some touch-up paint and painted over the scratches, only 1 layer of paint, with my girlfriends eye liner brush because we had a ton of rain coming.

Guys - any thoughts, comments would be appreciated. Can I fix this on my own, do I really need to take it in and pay all that money? The brush over job I've done helps the initial eye sore, but at any near distance it looks awful.

I searched for JunkMan on YouTube as per a few other forum responses. He seems to have more answers for swirls and general detailing than repairing scratches. Any other advice is really appreciated.

I would wait till you can run over the person who did it and fix the front bumper at the same time.

That sux!!!!!!! If it was at home, which I suppose it was... maybe your homeowner's insurance may cover it. Unfortunately, it sounds like it probably has to be repainted. Sorry bro...

I don't think homeowner's insurance will cover it, however, auto insurance will, minus deductible. Sorry for your loss.

there's alot of hate towards these camaros, especially now since everyones broke or jobless or driving a beater cuz they got repo'ed. every camaro owner needs to be paranoid, for real.
