I am just guessing but I think it has to do with the cold weather gumming up the grease or oil that is on the fan. Like I said this is just a guess.
I had the very same problem; turned out to be the blower motor. Since the replacement I have had no further problems.

Yep having the same problem here...will be taking it to the dealer after the holidays. I'm going to suggest the blower motor.

i really don't know what produces the noise. it sounds like the fan would touch somewhere or a bearing is defect or something like that. it's quite difficult to describe. it does not disappear when i change the air output to floor or windshield or to recirculation. it only alters the volume of the noise a bit.
interrestingly, turning the temperature from cold to hot changes also the intensitiy of the noise. it is loudest near the hot position and then gets clearly more quiet in the hottest position.

perhaps the fan is the problem, but i'm really not sure.

any help would be great.

Hi guys...same problem as Cool.c.....I have seen a lot of guesses about this problem in many threads...but no-one has found a final solution so far. Does anyone have an update?
