I agree with #5, easy problem to fix.

However, as for every other issue you had..

No hostility or offense intended here, but if you have this many problems with the interior, this car is most likely not for you. Aside from #5, most people don't have an issue with, or don't think that it's a big deal with everything else. It sounds like you're more accustomed to a luxury vehicle interior, not a "poor-man's Vette" interior.

While I do strongly disagree on the criticism, I also sell Camaros, so take my perspective w/ a grain of salt. Having said that, I really don't see cheap, hard plastics, I don't think the deep dish steering wheel is an "ergonomic disaster." This is a muscle car plain and simple. It's not trying to compare w/ euro coupes. It does one thing well, it performs. Pure bang for the buck that you can't beat, you can only hope to match it. Show me another 400 hp car available for just over 30 grand. (Mustang? Solid rear axle? No thank you!)

Not everyone is going to like this car, but enough will like it the way it is to make it a winner. If you try to make a car that everyone likes, you end up w/ Camrys and Accords.

Safe to say, the car is a bona fide homerun. It's certainly not perfect, but IMO changing anything will only make the car more expensive, and I don't want to see that. It's a winner as it is, let it be!

I hope GM is reading these threads as well...but in regards to the cave like interior, I highly doubt you will see any kind of change in this area until the next redesign, probably sometime around 2014 (give or take a few years). It would require a complete exterior redesign.

As far as on the road driving...it doesn't bother me and most people will say the same. First time I sat in one I felt the same...very confined. Then I drove it. Set your mirrors properly and you will be fine. Really where the vision hurts (me) is backing up, or even sometimes parking properly in a lot and getting in between the lines perfectly can be tough.

1.) I felt as if I was sitting in a cave, with sightlines being very poor on all sides & corners.
You never have to look up or down out the side windows in the car...and the mirrors are there to compensate for exaggerated blind spots behind the C-pillars. There shuld be no blind-spots...and the "cave" sensation is a product of the World-renowned exterior design. Few sensational-looking cars have SUV visibility.
2.) The interior was filled with an overabundance of cheap, hard plastic.
It's actually a newer plastic designed to last a long time without fade or decay in the material. And do you say 'cheap' just because it's plastic or because it actually felt thing and unsubstantial to you? Nevertheless...it is plastic, and some have perceptual issues with that.
3.) The dashboard was truly cartoonish and, IMHO, could use a complete redesign. The only exception was the 4-gauge cluster on the center console. It's excellent when used...it's a difficult concept to explain, but it becomes very user-friendly when you're actually driving. And it's different. I find the Mustang, for example, to be bland and boring. Ditto with the Challenger's interior design. I think it becomes a matter of taste...but the majority response is that it's good...
4.) The steering wheel is an ergonomic disaster. Period.
Why?
5.) There was no provision for the passenger seat to be elevated.
Correct. This was an attempt to divert costs elsewhere...like the standard Brembo brake pistons on the car.
6.) The sunroof, necessary to alleviate the dark-cave syndrome, took-up way too much headroom. I'm 5'-10" and could not put the seat in its uppermost position in order to gain thigh support w/o my head touching the headliner.
This was the thinnest sunroof design they tested, believe it or not...

Please know that I'm NOT trying to bash the Camaro. It is a vehicle that I would very much like to purchase; and by posting this, it is my fervent hope that perhaps GM's people monitor this site and will take note of the issues that we see, as potential customers.
They do read what we have to say from time to time...so thank you for your input!

My comments are not meant to discredit you in any way...but I did want to bring some things to your attention so you might understand why they did what they did.

About the only thing I can agree with is the cheap plastic. Otherwise the car follows the concept vehicle very closely which alot of people really love. I have heard many reviews about the hard to see out of, but I don't feel that at all. I have no problems whatsoever with seeing out of this car while dring. I have a 2SS eith grey leather interior (two tones) and it's beautiful. I can't really see how people can compared Mustang's and Challenger's with this interior. I think those other interiors are just plain ugly. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I love this as much as my wife's G35 sedan, while I find BMW's not that interesting. When the german's interiors are sparse, reviewers usually love them because of its minimalist design. For $37K I would like the Germans and the Japanese give us a vehicle with this much performance and an expensive interior to boot.

I agree on the cheap plastic. I love the interior, I mean absolutely drop-dead love the interior, but on my IOM interior you can see some very rough edges on the dash trim in certain light. I don't mind it though, the interior is the most striking part of the car imho

I think the OP makes some valid points, I too am not the biggest fan of the interior ( I have a 2SS) but I was willing to make the concession inorder to have the car. The exterior and driving characteristics make up for it, IMO.

Ok Im not sure why people keep talking about the "cave" like feeling? These are cars ya know. I dont think every car should be all glass... If anything it feels like a cockpit in here. Its enclosed Do you really want massive windows? If I wanted large windows on my car I would have bought a damn Minivan.
I felt a bit enclosed the first day I owned it But after 1000 miles Its perfectly normal to me.
Its all about getting used to it folks.

7.) The shiny plastic strip on the dash, along with the same material in panel-form on the doors has potential. It needs texture and perhaps a CF look.
8.) The seatback release mechanism, located just below the headrest on the back of the seat is awkward to activate.

1. To address that, they would have to redesign the exterior. (That you love so much)
2. Cost. YOU may be willing to have a price increase but most aren't.
3. You are definately in the minority. Of all the people that have seen my car, NOBODY has had anything but compliments.
4. Agreed on the steering wheel. But 'Disaster' is a little strong.
5. Agreed TOTALY. Mistake be GM.
6. Once again, it would require a redo of the design.
7. Agreed. I'm redoing mine in matching leather. As soon as the orange leather can be matched.
8. Ok, now your just searching.
