Its those reasons you mentioned above the reason I don't want mine at work. I work for a truck builder {Freightliner} and the parking there is horrendous!!

Yeah my wife thought I was crazy for keeping my Honda Accord after buying my Camaro. While I believe in driving the car more then just on nice weekends, I do want to keep it as clean as possable with relatively low miles. So I drive mine a couple times a week to work and on nice weekends. When I have to kart the kids from shopping center to shopping center, I take the Honda.

I am wanting to do alot of Mods to this car and would rather not use it as my daily driver. My problem here is with my wife. I suggested getting a old clunker to drive back and forth to work for around a $1000 dollars. And she thinks its a stupid idea. I tell her I don't want to put 50 miles a day on this car. As nice as it is, I would like to keep it and drive it on Sunny days and the weekends. She hit the roof and thinks I have lost my mind. What do you guys think?? Is this a stupid idea or have I just gone bonkers?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Shhh.... I gotta write this while she's not in the room.

But really, I think I'm in the same boat as you. Just this weekend I mentioned something about not renting out our extra parking space anymore "just in case we might need it". I then went on to mention the concept behind getting a DD.

I have to say, it didn't go over well. She didn't hit the roof, but after a week of talking about cars (she needs a new one), adding that I want a DD wasn't so smart.

Anyway, I'm definately not done with this subject... because I will get what i want, eventually! I just have to approach it on a "better day". I believe I may even use you as an example of how Owners are not wanting to put high miles on their Camaro.

I'll live with it for now... I only got a 3 mile commute to work, and driving this beast every day makes me look forward to the next!

my daily drivers are a 2001 S-10 and/or 2002 Honda Odyssey. The Camaro is only for fun outings. Period.

As much as I love driving my SW, my husband and I have 3 other vehicles so it's not really my DD. The Camaro stays safely tucked in the garage when the weather is bad or if I know I'll be in traffic or having to park in a busy parking lot.

I've had mine since August and it has 17,600 on it. I don't see the point in buying a 30+ thousand dollar car if you don't use and enjoy it. I didn't buy it to be a garage queen. I live in Cali so I don't have to worry about the snow. I don't blame the owners who won't drive theirs in the snow and salt. With that said, it's all personal preference. Some people only want to unveil and enjoy their Camaro on the weekend and if that's how you feel then go for it but I personally enjoy driving mine whenever I can.

Don’t worry Camaro (Freak) What? I do the same just like you. Own my "Bow" since 6/09 and it has only 3265 miles on it. All miles were from weekend car shows and back to the garage, twice on a Friday to work just to bug off my boss. Did she locked you out from the bedroom yet? Mine did for a week. But I surprised her and bought her a Nissan altima for under 1K with added accessories. She lets me use it as long as I keep the gas tank full.

I've got the opposite problem - The wife wants me to get a DD and want to keep driving the SS... I mean, I bought it to drive it, not to park it...

I bought mine just for sunny days and weekends. I baby it, wash it at least once a week. She's kept in the garage 24/7 and will never feel rain on her. I've had her since 6/09 and have 2,700 miles on her. She still smells brand new. I have an 07 Escape that's my daily driver. I just think these cars are too nice to be daily drivers, but that's just me.

Sounds like a case for:

Wife<--->Swap

I do agree with the driving it part, absolutely! Like you stole it!!

But there are a lot of benefits to not having it as a DD. For 1... not driving my Camaro when/where I'd rather not (I don't like parking my Camaro, anywhere... well, most anywhere for long periods of time and NEVER WalMart!). Another might be insurance, having a beater as a DD + Camaro, as a 2nd, might be the same or less?

Anyway I do plan on having this 2010 SIM Camaro until I can't drive it no more!

Edit: I'm trying to talk the wife into the Challenger, she likes it's style... so her car wouldn't be the 'beater' to drive to WalMart. (using WalMart as a metephor for all places non-auto friendly)

I had this issue when I changed jobs 6 years ago and lost my company car. The only car I owned was my '95 Z28 that I had since new, so I did the only logical thing, I bought ANOTHER Camaro (a '91 with 100,000 miles on it) as my daily driver! The '95 has only 28,000 miles on it and is my show car. I decided not to trade it on the new SS (which just crested 1,000 miles) and so now I have three... So, yes, whether I'm driving my show car, my daily driver, or my new baby, I am always driving a Camaro!
