With that 3.6 pulley I don't think you'll have a prob hitting your target of 500 rwhp. You'll probably beat it by a few!! Enjoy

thanks superchargedSS! What does Unopened mean? How much boost are you pushing to run a 10.99 on that wicked auto of yours?

Jsharp, right now I'm at 10 psi. Next week I'm going to go up to 12 psi if I can solve my traction problem. All I meant by unopened is that the engine is stock, nothing forged, stock cam, etc. All we did was bolt the blower on and go.

Is it possible to get 500 rwhp on L99 with this setup?
Is it safe? Reliable? Legit when advertised?

Please post your comments and opinions on what this setup will and should make. I will be sending my car off for this setup and will post actual numbers after my return.

jsharp

I have a 2010 L99 that dynoed at 505 rwhp. I have KOOK HEADERS/CAI/
3"CATS AND EXHAUST/MAGGIE 2300/INSTALLED AND TUNED BY MIKE NORRIS. It's a sweeeeet ride. If you look back in the threads about March 2 months ago you'll see where Mike posted a report on my car. I have been driving it daily ever since and it's a sweeeeet ride. You'll love your NEW ride. Beware though. HP is addicting. I was thinking of adding some boost to my set up. I now am running a 3.4 pulley to compensate for the psi loss due to the headers. I'm about 8 lbs of boost which seems to be very safe but I am hearing the fastest way to blow a motor is by adding too much boost. I'd like to get to 550 rwhp with more boost but instead I'm rethinking about going the cam/head work route instead. We'll see.

SKERIS - Contact Jannetty Racing in Waterbury, CT. He does builds like this every week and they are on par if not better than the big nationally named companies and I gurantee his customer service is better! He did mine and its perfect.

Camaro54 - I have the same set-up as you (including tthe 3.4) and we used meth to get to the 550 / 550 number and its totally safe. I beat the snot out of it at the track and its flawless. Have you looked into meth yet?

I'd call that 500 too. Hell, if Ford can call a 4951cc motor a 5.0L why can't you get by with something that is much closer to the truth?

I'm sure you will be 500+ so you can claim 600 by Ford's standards.

Hey Supercharged SS, no I haven't used meth and I don't know how or when to use it as I am very new to all this HP. I was informed by some one else recently the same advise so I'm sure you are correct. What can you tell me about using meth with my set up. If I went to 10 psi or more what would I do just drive normal and only use the meth over 5000 rpm?
Any advise is welcomed as I am becomming an addict to this car and it's speed. Thanks.

What was your boost level with the 3.6 pulley with headers. I know it lowers it but wasnt sure how much. Im guessing since the headers lowers the boost but makes power that it will be more efficient and safer since boost is decreased? I have though about a cam down the road too but following this setup I am going to look at axles, differential bushings, control/trailing arms, and maybe trans updates (gonna keep an eye out to see how all these supercharged A6's do for a little while. Then I will get a cam and I heard that lowers boost and raises hp also so I guess that will be even safer for the engine. Then some stickier tires since ill have supporting mods. I already have lowering springs and sways.

jsharp, sorry but we didn't even try the 3.6 since I already had the long tube headers Mike Norris took that into concideration and selected the next smaller pulley. I had also told him I was really wanting to land at or over 500 rwhp. He keeps steering me from more boost at this time the way I'm setting with my mods to the engine. I'm going with his advise so I'll look at the cam/head work. I hope to get more info on meth though. I've already done the lowering springs and sway bars and am looking into some of the softer but better bushings from Pedders.

As far as the meth is concerened, its like an insurance policy for using boost. Its a safer way to stay at the higher boost levels and prevent detonation and also make some more power. There is nothing to using it. The tuner / builder can set it up and all you have to do is make sure the tank has meth in it.
Jannetty Racing set mine up and its fantastic. He has the meth come in at a certain psi and then spray on throughout. He did everything, including programming the controller and adjusting it in the tune. With the Cooling Mist kit you even get a low level warning so you don't run out of meth. And even if you did, you could still drive around because you really can't get the car above 5 psi on the street. All I do is make sure the 1.5 gallon tank is full. And that thing will never run out becasue you are only using the meth at certain boost levels. There is a good write up on the site about meth and even some pics. I just don't remember where.

It seems like the 3.6 pulley upgrade is need to get to the 500 rwhp number.
