If they don't cover the part who does? I thought this thing had a warranty? That's BullShat....Ask them to point out where it is addressed in the warranty that your specific part isn't going to be covered.

I know I've got an SS, however some of your symptoms seem similar to mine. Read THIS thread and see if any of my problems match yours. Mine ended up being the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module). It malfunctioned and caused all sorts of problems with my car.

All I can say is that it seems like the worst thing ever to have to go through, but once it's done and fixed you will feel so much better, and you'll look back and realize it wasn't too bad.

The BCM (Body Control Module) is covered as they originally thought that was my issue as well. Took the dealer a couple weeks to really narrow the problem down to one thing.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

-Mike

Just keep in mind that if there is an intermittent problem (i.e. short) in one of the electrical mods you added, then after they replace the fried parts and send you on your way - the problem may return...

I've been reading about your situation for some time now, this is ridiculous. Especially at Maroone of West Dade - they've been treating me like a king there, when I had some issues. Who have you been speaking to?

okay UPDATE! my car is fixed at least for the electronics and such. but i still haven't received the car. why? okay i don't know about you guys. but 850$ with tax and such for a new batter, some cable and a harness and labor seem pretty damn high...

battery..200? for a ultimate best battery in the world type shit.
cable? 50?
harness 100?

thats about 450 and that like pulling number out my rear...so i dont know if thats right

they are charging me for doing a diagnostic test...is that even possible?

It always seems a little outrageous at a dealer because normally those costs are rolled up in the warranty so you never see them. It is completely normal for a dealer to charge a diagnostic fee. You don't get free labor for them to figure out the problem, then they just charge you to fix it. Usually a dealer will charge 2 hours to start for diagnosis at a rate of around $100 per hour, so you're looking at $200 right there to start.

When I had my problem fixed the final cost came out to just under $2,000, that was for a new EBCM ($600), a new ECM ($400), labor (re-programming the EBCM and ECM), and the loaner car (which I had to pay for since the issue wasn't covered under warranty).

So $850 might seem high, but labor isn't cheap, especially at a dealership. You pay for quality and at a dealer you get trained and qualified techs that know what they're doing.

Just curious, why was this not covered under warranty?
