I wanted to get an idea of how long it would take to transition from one event code to the next... So with a couple of hours (dont ask I was stuck and that board

) I managed to find 1186 unique order codes up to 8/4 on a thread Vis started for tracking orders from 1100 through 3800. There were 795 transitions from one order code to another. Ie 1100-2000 or 2000-3800 or 2000-2500 etc But only 659 were interesting transitions. Ie transitions above 2000.

What did I find... See the two tables below

NOTE: There were only two available recorded transitions from 2000-3800. So that data does not representative anything meaningful. 30 records is about where a stats guy would start to pay attention.

I had to make a few ASSumptions that make the results a bit fishy but... it is the best data I have access to... I am not reporting transitions from 1100 to any other code. Since that is really a dealer allocation thing and you could be at 1100 for a long time if your dealer does not have an allocation.

Closing thoughts:
1) Hope this helps answer the question "How long till I get my car..."

GREAT JOB. I will post my stats once as I move through the process, I ordered on Apr 11 and just today finally got my order code from GM Customer Care, the dealer never did get it to me.

Today I found I was at 3000 with a TPW of 9/7/09, so if I interpret that right I am looking at at least 26 days from 3000 to 3800 (which I have no idea when I got to 3000) so my clock starts today.

That would put me somewhere in the middle between your calc'ed average and max, as long as my TPW does not change.

Thanks for all that effort I was just wading through the status messages and trying to roughly guess the time, but your chart is far easier. You must have put some serious time in that given your sample sizes, again great job and thanks.

2010 2SS Manual 6 IOM

2000 - 6/18 - Accepted
2500 - 6/23 - Preferenced
3000 - 6/24 - Accepted by Production Control
3100 - 7/14 - Available to Sequence
3300 - 7/14 - Scheduled for Production
3400 - 7/23 - Broadcast
3800 - 7/31 - Produced
4000 - 7/31 - Available to Ship
4B00 - 7/31 - Bayed
4200 - 8/05 - Shipped

What a great tool to help us all! I'm assuming the data are based on calandar days, vs working/production days (which would be Mon-Sat, provided they're still manufacturing on Saturdays?)
