Its funny this thread was posted, becasue I was thinking this exact same thought this morning on my way to work. I agree, it definatley isn't as friendly on the road as it was when my parents were younger, so they say. Im in Texas and it is rare (extremely rare) when i see someone beam down the opposing traffic for a cop. I got hit with a ticket 2 weeks ago, would have been nice if someone did that for me then.
Just my opinion: I'd say continue to flash your high beams to warn others of cops. Hopefully, our generation of drivers will re-institute this friendly warning. Thanks to all who still do this!

Maybe it has to do with location? Back home in CT I would do that and I almost always got a wave and response back. Here in FL I tried it a few times and nada not even a head nod so I gave up. Get your ticket, none of my concern.

I do this after I am far enough away from the cop so that he can not see me and I am sure that there is not a second cop. In the town where I work, a Boston suburb, the cops like to set up their traps in a double team effort, you get by the first one and speed up and the second one gets you. This town does not give warnings. They call it 100% enforcement. Once you see the blues, you know that you are getting a ticket. I have been saved this way and I try to pass it on to others.

Every time I think someone is flashing their lights at me I realize they just hit a bump in the road and that there regular headlights were just at my level.

How U Doin?

When I lived back east it was almost commonplace to do this but here in Cali I don't ever see anyone warning or thanking you. I don't even bother anymore.

Yeah, well maybe it is just a small town or urban area thing nowadays. If you flash your high beams in the city, people think you're bitching at them to get out of the way... which it can also be used for lol
