Maybe I'm lost, but I can't find any superchargers on GMPP's site for sale....specifically a $3,500 supercharger. I'm really curious to check that out....especially if its only 3,5.

as I mentioned...this was not for the LS3 and is probably discontinued...it was the one of the few references I could find regarding GMPP and factory warranty.

Here's the kit the article was referring to, but it's not showing up on the current GMPP catalog: http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=167186

It would boost your Pontiac Vibe from 145 to 200.

edit...looks like this one was in the 2006 catalog:

I'm used to SC'ers running $6,5 to $7k...which is why I was interested in seeing what they had. I read a part of the article where it talked about it being for a 4. ...was just curious to check it out since there was a SC for 3,5...not necessarily for my price point....but for comparison.

For a GMPP supercharger (not LS3)...
"The GM Performance Parts supercharger kit is on sale now. It costs about $3,500 and carries a product warranty for defects in material and workmanship for a period of 12 months or 12,000 miles from date of installation. GM will also cover the internally lubricated engine and transmission components for the length of the original factory powertrain warranty. And if the vehicle is already off factory warranty, the additional powertrain warranty that comes with the kit still applies, depending on the age and actual mileage of the vehicle at the time of the blower's installation.

I also read on another forum (unqualified source) that if the part is marked 'off road use only' that's the indicator that it will void factory warranty. I'd really like to hear someone from GMPP chime in on this topic.
I'm almost certain that you are citing the Cavalier supercharger kit. That 2.2L EcoTec supercharger was a good part, but it was a special part. It was designed within the limitations of that engine's internal components, which could handle up to 250hp. This number is based on the limitations of the 2004 2.2L EcoTec. The same limitations are recommended in the build book for the Chevrolet Cobalt.

This particular GMPP kit was designed for a particular engine. If I'm wrong, GMPP tends to design specific parts for specific cars anyway. In the case of the Camaro, similar parts may be developed. Each part that GM designs may have a different warranty. It is up to GMPP to designate a part-specific warranty based on whether the car's original components will last for the remainder of the original warranty or whether the car is no longer streetable.

Yes it was...as I mentioned...I was simply looking for any information regarding GMPP and factory warranties and that is the only example that I could find that stated effect definitively one way or the other. I appears that no one has a clear answer one way or the other...so...I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

If you could keep the warranty that would be sick because an ls3 with an intake and a cam can make around 490rwhp.

Read this thread for more info:

Robin (GMPP) states part numbers and other items needed to install the Hot Cam, but also states it would VOID your drivetrain warranty. (I'm bummed about this one)

what were you expecting? the engine and transmission is rated for a certain amount of power, if you make the engine go over those ratings why should they warranty it.

because gm sells more parts and makes more money. certify the darn thing for a 50hp bump and call it a day.

tons of people would add the option.

then again that option would make it harder to add a z/28 option since they would have to compete with a higher hp option on the SS

but the z28 would probably also be offered with 1LE suspension and tons of other goodies. I'm just talking about a simple cam swap done at the dealer which is warrantied along with the rest of the car. I still think it should be offered
