Its inevitable that a chip, scratch, or dent is bound to happen sooner or later on our camaros. Ive noticed 4 or 5 pin head sized chips, scratch on my bumper, and one nice scratch to the metal on my hood due to a rock on the highway. But hey thats expected when I drive my Camaro everyday. I will get them filled-in soon... priced my SGM paint at $35 for half a pint or so... Point being, Im sure there are plenty of Ferrari, Lambo, and Porsche owners that have the same issue so dont think our nice Camaros are the only ones getting damaged.

Can't speak to Ferrari, Lambo or Porshe, but my Avenger, Ram 1500 and Jeep Rubicon don't have these issues. I hear what you are saying, but I think (given everything I've read on this subject on this site) that the consensus is there are certainly paint issues. Is what it is, but will certainly be a consideration before I buy another GM product.

The splash guards look good after you get used to them.

As far as the paint chips, they do happen and I don't like them either. Try to adjust your driving style and look out for little stuff like areas of the road that have some little rocks.

My cousins bumble bee has a ridiculous amount of paint chips on the front. The paint is also knocked off the doors just from softly sitting the door against drywall one time when he parked too close in the garage. He also had a light scratch on the quarter and tried to get it buffed out and couldnt because the paint was so thin. It would be interesting to get one of those sensors on our cars and compare paint thicknesses to other makes.

Only .01 chips per mile...not bad

A lot of chips can be avoided just by not following so close.

However, my wife's car has over 70k and my truck has over 60k and BETWEEN them I haven't filled in 19 paint chips. Now, I don't have a clear bra, and yes, that would have saved probably 5 of the 19. But the other 14 are in places I wouldn't have put a clear bra (on the roof, top of the fenders, etc). Also, this was ALL freeway driving from Denver south and the roads appeared very 'clean'.

I guess I'm just venting as I know we are all in the same boat when it comes to our paint on these cars. Misery loves company. At this rate however I'm not going to have much factory paint left in a year or two
Brother, your not the only one out there... I have a yellow 2010 Camaro and I have 8 chips right in front of the left rear tire, 6 on the top and 8 on the front area!!!
