I also didn't get a reference number, but the reason is because my dealer isn't placing the quick orders via order workbench. They are waiting until the actual orders can be placed in Dec/Jan and will put them in the system then.

chevylaunch.com says that there is no benefit for the dealers to place the orders now. It's mostly just for GM to gauge interest. They said that there will be no difference between orders placed now via "Quick Order" and orders placed via the regular order method once that becomes available. It will not affect their allocation.

no benefit for the dealer, but there is for you. When your dealer finally gets around to ordering in Dec. there will be a bunch of others ahead of you that got dumped all at once.

The dealer will receive a production guide number and all inquiries should be directed to them.

However it does not say when.
My guess would be when the orders are actualy pulled from the system, I believe in Dec.
Does anyone know what "estimated production number" actually means? It appears that is the number that dealers are getting through Q3 2009. If a dealer has an "estimated production number of 2 and they have sold orders of 4, will that dealer get just 2 cars or 4? Or does it depend on pure luck?

Estimate production number is the number of Camaros they have been allocated thru Q3 2009. So if the dealer gets estimate production number of 2 then their allocation is two. That also means Chevy is telling them that they are getting 2 Camaros. So then if your go to the dealer you want to be one of those two. If you are #3 you and they don't know when they are going to get their 3rd car.

Thanks. I was told that they were getting 4 and I am number 4. But I have it on good autority that their allocation is 2. Just wondering if the dealer is trying to surprise me (perhaps I am really number 2) or if I am getting screwed (4Q for my car to come in).

What's the dealer name and location?
We can verify their PGN for you.

Your dealer is waiting because they plan to place lot car orders in higher priority than yours. I would order somewhere else if I were you.

Well, I don't believe that to be the case. I was the first order taken by this dealership and I have been assured that I will be the first order placed when open ordering begins. I know that puts a lot of trust in the dealers that they are keeping them in the order they are received, but I'm not willing to give up my (potential) place in line to go to another dealer to be placed wherever I would be placed now.

Unless you are talking about all the "quick orders" that have already been placed and my order being after all of those. gmlaunches.com specifically states that that isn't the case.

Interesting. You mean they intend on placing their "Stock orders" before their "Sold orders"?

I would get that 6 digit confirmation number or move on to the next dealer, that is what I did.

The dealer can do pretty much anything they want right up until the actual factory order drop in December. Right now, the quick order system (pre-order) is supposed to be available for only customer "sold" orders; i.e. a real name, address, etc... All of us who have gone in and ordered got (or should have got) a 6-digit alpha-numeric confirmation code. On the same sheet (OrderWORKBENCH) there is a priority number in the bottom right. Mine happens to be #1, some people here have #5, #10, etc... All that means is I was the first person to actually place an order with my dealer, someone else the fifth at their dealer, still someone else the tenth at theirs.

The dealer can change those numbers around at any time prior to submitting the ACTUAL orders to Chevy in December. I could go into my dealer tomorrow and be #6 while someone else has been moved to #1. Same thing, I believe, at ACTUAL order time. The dealer could make his lot cars #1-5 and without changing anything else, move all the customer orders down 5 spots. I would go to #6, the guy after me to #7, etc...

You have to trust your dealer to do the right thing. I do but I'm sure that won't be the case across the country...

I don't think that is true...about the priority number.

When I finalized my order it showed #1 as well...I ask does that mean I'm #1 and he said no, the is for the sold orders and all sold orders show as #1?

Maybe he didn't know but either way, I was the first at the dealer with money in hand! So I have the first order and even had them write on my workbench copy I was #1, signed by the general manager of the dealership long with the price I'm paying!

Below MSRP too :-)

I'm being safe...I want my Camaro ASAP or as soon as available!

This is correct and has been verified by a dealer in this forum...too lazy to look for it.
