Roush Performance Expands Line to Include GM Parts
For the first time in the history of ROUSH Performance, the company is expanding into the General Motors line of autos and trucks. Up to this point, ROUSH Performance has been strictly devoted to the design, manufacture and distribution of high-performance products for Ford-based vehicles. "This is a momentous announcement for our company," stated Joe Thompson, general manager of ROUSH Performance. "For the past 12 years we have exclusively offered Ford-based products. Our engineering and manufacturing divisions already do considerable work for General Motors as well as DaimlerChrysler so the time was right for us to put this expertise to use for ROUSH Performance. The brand name is synonymous with high-quality products that perform as advertised and come with the best warranty program in the industry. All these traits will be incorporated into products we develop for GM vehicles and other brands as we continue the expansion of our line." The initial GM products are ROUSH Power Programmers and Cold Air Intake Kits which were developed by the same engineering group which has had so much success in adding horsepower and performance to the Ford line for so many years. The ROUSH Power Programmers are handheld units which can easily plug into the truck to increase horsepower and torque, change the transmission shift points and firmness, alter the top speed or engine RPM limiter, adjust the speedometer for tire and gear ratio changes and a host of other adjustments.. These ROUSH Power Programmers have a suggested retail price of $499.99 are available for a wide range of GM cars and trucks including the Chevrolet Duramax, Corvette, GM Trucks, and many more 1999-2007 vehicles. The ROUSH Cold Air Intake Kits are simple bolt-on additions that increase horsepower and torque. Installed in minutes, the Cold Air Intake Kits include all the necessary hardware and a high-flow filter that is protected from the heat of the engine by a ROUSH-designed cool air dam system. The filter is washable and re-usable, and the modular intake tube will wake up even the tamest of engines as it flows more air than the factory unit. The Cold Air Intake Kit considerably reduces pressure drop across the stock air box and filter element. It comes with a rotomolded airbox to seal to the hood to reduce leakage. Again, the bottom line is less loss equals more airflow which results in more power. Through the remainder of 2007 the ROUSH Performance GM line will quickly expand to include exhaust systems, suspension components and other accessories. Those interested can visit www.ROUSHperformance.com to see all the new products as they are unveiled, or to verify that these new parts will work for your GM vehicle. Furthermore, the ROUSH powertrain engineers are currently working on a new ROUSHcharger* which will fit the 2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. With info like this coming out, it could very well be a possibility. Saleen starts talking about making a modded Camaro and talks about the LS3 supercharged....now this? Something to seriously think about...

I posted this elsewhere, but Roush makes the least popular superchargers for the current mustang
They aren't as efficient as other supercharger offerings and have limited potential to increase boost down the road. The ROUSHchargers are usually roots style superchargers, not a twin screw like the Kenne Bell or Saleen setups. Knowing this, I don't know if the ROUSHcharger for GM vehicles will really be any better. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with them fundamentally, but I think there will be better options for the Camaro. |

It would be awesome to have all the elite car tuners work with the Camaro but I don't want to see 38 different special editions like they did with the mustang. I get so sick of each week hearing about a new mustang powerhouse edition.

I think the big advantage to this is the association of the names with GM than the actual (possible) expansion of either Rousch or Saleen into GM.
If huge names like that are tossing aorund the idea, than the smaller aftermarket companies COULD also get excited and hop onto the virtual bandwagon. In other words, more options and sooner after release for the Camaro. Just my $0.02 Last edited by MerF; 05-21-2007 at 03:03 PM. Reason: Proofreading. |

CC: What future projects?
Saleen: Well the Camaro project is one of them, I've watched from a distance while they've been putting the production model together. I think it would be foolish on our part if we didn't get a part of that action (Steve laughs). CC: So are you going to do your own versions of the new Camaro? Saleen: It's not legally official right now, but that's what we're hoping for. CC: What kind of upgrades will you make, have you seen the engine GM is using in the Camaro? Saleen: I hope I don't get in trouble with GM for saying this, but they're using a 6.2 liter 450 horsepower engine for the premium V8 in the 2009 Camaro and the base Corvette. The base V8 will probably be a detuned version of the same 6.2. So we'll just upgrade the 6.2 liter V8 to Saleen level specifications. We're going to upgrade the 6.2 liter V8 if we're given the legal chance by GM. Our base model should have around 485 horsepower, and expect our Extreme Supercharged Camaro to have over 600 horsepower. I dont know if it is old news,i havnt heard about it.Im getting more excited about the Camaro, supposevly the SS camaro is going to have 550hp S/C hopefully is true. i hope this news will help i think this is old news ? what do you guys think about this info? |

Your link. (If you read through the whole thing, yes...I was wrong about the engine info being false. My apologies.)
