Thanks for all the replies, this is a great forum. I think I'll solve the ticking issue by getting a louder exhaust.

Mine ticks a bit too. I have driven my car hard enough that if something was going to break it would have happened by now. The tick sound is the exact same today as it was on day 1. I have 3500 km now/7 months.

The drive thru comment cracks me up... I freaking hate it too.. I put my intake and engine covers back on to shut it up some...

Jekyell-in hyde changed the engine? on a 2010? hmm I bought my 2010 last week, (Sept 10) with 10,000 miles on it... I noticed it ticked at start up, at the dealership I notice it in my garage "I am happy to live with it", if you guys say its normal.. I have a 2001 2500HD 6.0L with 140,000 Miles and it ticks and clatters and hauls my 8000lb RV trailer easily and I love it I have a 2007 5.3 Suburban and its very quiet... ...

Mine does the same thing at startup, when I had my 06 gto the dealership told me it was piston slap and after the motor warmed up the noise was gone.

I have a 66 Pontiac Strato Chief, 2 door post, with a built 427 big block chev (Cdn Pontiacs had Chev power) headers, Flowmasters, Big isky cam and Rhodes lifters! it ticks like solid lifters ALL the time

My LS3 has been quiet, but our 97 Silverado with 145xxx miles has the famous Chevy lifter tic and the 5.7L Vortec is still going strong. We've got a set of new lifters to drop in the Silverado, but not going to do that until it's really necessary.
