I tried trying to locate my sensor and it is buried in the front, not assessable.

Location, location, location. Depends where the senors are, what they are exposed to and all those variables. You could easily see a 15*F difference, depending.

Living in FL, if my car is outside sitting in a parking lot it will read well over 100*, even though the ambient air is high 80's. Give it time to cool down while driving and it should level out to be right.

I just found this post - and my temp is consistently 8-10 degrees high - even AFTER driving for long (30 min) distance. I will try the dealer since I am still under warranty! My Silverado is spot on - the Camaro used to be accurate but recently started reading high......

just curious why you would be concerned, if in fact, there is an actual 7 degree difference. you say "its too much" - why?? not all speedos are dead on either, not all clocks are dead on... just wondering...

The sensor in my wife's Suburban reads a little high... yesterday it was 169 degrees, and a couple of days before, it was 175 degrees. The sensor for that aftermarket thermometer is located in a door jamb (as recommended by the manufacturer), and does not seem to be affected by engine heat, but... whatever.

On my Camaro, the temp readings are spot on, when compared to an average of what the Weather Channel reports, bank displays, and the radio reports. All of those can be off by 10 degrees on any given day, but when I sort of average them all out, my Camaro is pretty much within a couple of degrees of average. That's whether it's 9 degrees or 109 degrees, and I do get both. However, I don't get an accurate reading until at least two or three miles of driving... when parked, it's a crapshoot as to what it will say, but then at some point a couple of miles into driving, the thing will rapidly adjust, with about one minute's worth of rising or descending numbers, until it levels off at the (apparently) correct number.

I am curious as to where the sensor is located... I've looked, and can't find it. I'd like to know how it compensates for engine heat, road reflection, or other factors that could throw off readings on actual ambient temps.

Hey, at least the "Search" button apparently worked correctly for them instead of starting a new thread. Gotta give 'em props for that.

Have had mine spike twice recently up to 122 then fall back down to normal. Photo shows 120 but look at the sign in the background (71)

It is called using the search feature. Kudos to them!

I like watching old threads popup that I haven't read. It is like catching up on a show I was late to start watching...
