If they had them along side the license plate, they would have to be far apart for the export plates as well. Take a look at the new Corvette below, those seem pretty small and out of the way, maybe something like that...

I never realized the Corvette had it's lights that low. I guess they can make it work just as well on the Camaro then. Just seems too low/hidden to be legal to me. (Obviously it's not, it just looks that way to me.) |

I don't understand your concern with too low/legal for backup lights. They are a convenience feature for backing up, not a marker light for other vehicles/drivers to see. As long as they adequately light the area you are backing up on, I don't see any issues or concerns.

The C5 had the lamps hear the license plate. This resulted in additional costs for having two configurations for domestic and export versions I would imagine
Domestic C5 ![]() I can't find a shot of a C5 Export rear fascia anyplace... I believe they had the backup lamps in the tails and the longer license plate fit in the pocket the domestic cars had the plate and backup lamps in, but I'm not 100%

Yup..it's possible that they keep them in the same place they are now, but with a little work, have them more visable. Maybe they keep them there?

What if the lights were not "in" the inside brake lamps, but were the inside brake lamps...here, let me try to explain
There are 4 tail lamps, right? Well the inside 2, what if the reverse lights shared that space, you know, those two lamps lit up different colors, white or red...both afterburner style depending whether reverse is engaged? |

I prefer the all red tails of the 67-68 RS cars with the backup lamp under the bumpers as well. Carry over that look to the new Camaro please

The technology certainly exists to make the LED's completely hidden when not used, then be quite bright and white when in reverse. I could see that growing on me.
However, the current concept with the hidden reverse lights are mmm-mmm-good to me. |

That would be a pretty clean looking Eclipse if it weren't for the bookshelf on the back of it. Otherwise it's rice madness. That thing looks like it will flip over backward at high speeds. I do like how they relocated the reverse lights to clean up the back of the car. I like that '67-'68 Mustang hiding in the background.
