Wow..so now its the ITS A PIG ! thing..LOL. Please explain...its simple math. The new engine is 10 lbs more. The new Trany weighs less than the one in the older version. So bembro Brakes, (optional) and 19inch wheels(optional) and a track pack(optional) is going to cause the car to gain 400~500 pounds and make it weigh more than a Camaro ??? I mean really.

Last time I checked, they are still using the same platform with a new drive-train. So how does a car gain that much weight ??? C'Mon Maaaaan....

I expect that Ford will weigh the "base" model, lacking Brembos, uses tiny wheels, has the bare minimum options, and it will weigh a bit more than the current car. Then all the fanboys will flood over to the Camaro forums and proclaim total domination. They will then place their orders and opt for the brembos and other goodies and wonder why they have trouble keeping up at the track.
Wow.......your really really hoping are you not ? I mean really...So by your logic, if you take the Bembro's and the rims off a camaro, it will loose 500 pounds. Wow..I wonder why nobody else has done this mod on their Camaro's yet ??

Hmmm lets see....

1. Same platform: check
2. Same body style :check
3. 2010 models ALREADY have 19inch wheels and the track pack and weigh MUCH less than a Camaro: check
4. New 5.0 engine weighs 10lbs+ than 4.6:Check
5. New Trany weighs less than outgoing trany:check

So....I guess the materials they used to stiffen the frame weighs in about 450~500 pounds ! Ahhh Why did I not see that before !!!!!

Some ones a bit touchy. Did you consider that there might be changes to the frame to support these new options?

I'm not "hoping", I'm just trying to annoy the non Camaro owners off the boards.

My comparison is valid because all I have heard about is how the camaro was in big trouble because the mustang was going to be so much lighter. The Camaro would not only lose in a drag race, but it would be beat on the track because the "track pack" makes up for no IRS.

My contention is that the SS comes standard with 20's and Brembos and IRS and you need to ADD OPTIONS to the mustang to compete. I don't care how much lighter the base car is because you're going to end up in the tire barrier with those stock brakes fading and the base suspension.

So, what you end up doing is comparing the base weight of a stripper model to a much more capable base model Camaro. A Mustang with no track pack and the tiny all season tires will not beat a stock SS on the track.

It's pretty simple.

The articles I read SAY they added reinforcements and structural foam as well as a strut tower brace to it.

Meanwhile, some of these guys are saying the new model is lighter than the old one.

What did they do put helium in the new parts? LOL!

I agree bro they don't need to upgrade anything on the camaro because it already has brembos, IRS, and 426hp, how do you upgrade perfection?

A 412hp mustang with a log axle should def. not be beating the SS right, neither should a 315hp with factory optioned "track pack" right?

right? :(

I'm taking bets from anyone who thinks the stock Camaro SS will outrun the stock 2011 Mustang 5.0.

I just don't like the dated Mustang styling or SRA, but then I choose performance and fun over style.

So this way you can loose to the Camaro and sound like Minnie Mouse talking at the same time.
