Dave, is definitely great to work with. I would recommend those of you in the DC metro area or close to Maryland check him out. I had a tough time finding an installer in this area, but I am happy I stayed local. Well 90 miles away is an easy enough drive.

No it isn't. I just didn't want to post incorrect numbers because you know how those get quoted on the forums. The cam has more duration on the intake for the whipple. This whipple can really make some boost! Tim figured in order to get the most out of it we should use a more aggressive profile.

The cam that went in yesterday was 223/235 with a 115 CL.

You should be fine. Take a look at Supercharged SS he is running over 10lbs boost with a Maggie and no issues at all.

One of the great things about the Whipple is the IATS have stayed so low. I was very worried about heat soak based on all the bashing of twin screws I've read online. The whipple has surprised everyone. My tuner can't believe how steady the temps have remained. We did multiple runs on a 100 degree day and the IAT stayed around ambient. Car still made around 590 rwhp.

I wanted to give an update on the progress of the build. Valve springs for the cam came in yesterday. Those are done.

Tim had my hood and trunk removed. They were sent to paint my stripes on. I was going for a subtle difference. They look great in my opinion. You can't feel the stripe due to multiple clear coats. I went with black stripes that have a pearl that matches the RJT. From a distance they look gloss black. But when you get close, depending on the light, the RJT gives it red tones. It looks like when they sprayed the stock paint they sprayed the stripes as well. I'll post pictures when they are back on the car.

Tim's shop is awesome. He can pretty much get anything you want done.

Unfortunately, the delay right now is the methanol kit. I want to give those of you considering this option my honest opinion of these systems. I am not bashing any one. This is just the route we decided to take for my install.

I researched heavily online. There are easily a dozen companies offering very similar kits on the market. Most vendors obviously do not have their own manufacturing plants. Let's be realistic, these are small companies that are forced to purchase their parts and piece together their kits. Just to give you an idea, take the pump for example. Coolingmist, AEM, Snow Performance, and Alcohol Injection systems all use the same pump. That's a good thing. It's common and it works. If it ever dies you can find it for about $110 online.

There are two big differences between the kits that I've found. The gauge or controller that comes with the system and the tank location.

Of all the controllers out there, I think cooling mist has the most integrated and finished looking unit on the market. So I chose them. Other units required mounting in center console or did not really include a gauge. Plus it serves as a boost gauge. I know, maybe not needed. I was hoping to keep an OEM interior but after seeing many pictures of the dual pod from fesler built I chose that one.

Tank location, I am not happy installing a tank in my trunk in a non-DOT approved container. My car is a daily driver. Here I think alky control has the best set up. They have been around a long time. Their approach is nothing behind the fire wall. We ordered a reservoir from them yesterday that will fit on the driver's side, behind the CAI, in between the motor and wheel well. This will allow me to keep my stock windshield washer system and be easily accessible for refilling. No lines run through the cabin and no space lost in the trunk. The tank cost $20. They have specialty tanks to work with just about every supercharger out there. Give them a call if you're interested in something similar.

Thanks Tim for finding a solution to meet my special request.

Tank should be here Wednesday and head to dyno for final tuning.

W/ the 4.00 the car made 8psi steadily until upper RPM area where we saw a slight rise to 10psi. I would guess the 3.875 will add 1-2 psi

I'm assuming that this is either Dave or George. What do you think we should do with the pulley after the cam swap and with the methanol injection kit? Should we run it at a lower boost level to be safe? Does the meth kit allow us to run a lower pulley size safely and get more out of the motor?

Great info, thanks for sharing...

So this system is triggered by what?
exssesive KR, EGT's, or IAT's?

Be sure to post some pics of your kit... it sounds like you did your homework.

Tim, You pulled the trigger on the whipple for your car? Cant wait to see the dyno charts back to back against your maggie.

We intend to run the CMGS based on boost. The controller allows you to set a min boost level to start spraying. It also allows you to set a max boost level at which the system will be at maximum flow.

To be honest, We weren't sure if it was really needed. The Whipple IAT's have been very steady. Plus this system is making so much power for a street driven vehicle already. I am using it as an extra safety for my motor. We will be tuning either Wednesday or Thursday of next week. We will find out what improvement if any. Hopefully this helps the rest of you.

You'll be very happy to add that extra octane by providing the meth. Even though Whipple maintains a nice IAT, the meth kit makes it even better. When you're ready to forge the engine, be sure to look at your valves and pistons, and you'll be amazed how clean they are. Last but not least, you also save your rings failing during boost with extra heat. Remember, this engine components were not selected for boost and extra heat.
Meth really adds many benefits that is worth every penny. I didn't even count or bring in the extra power by adjusting the timing. Even if you don't program it for meth presence, you're still a winner.
