Some Tireshine products can eat into your plasti dip application.

Guys, I haven't seen all of the posts on this thread but just wanted to put it out there that some tire shine products can eat into the plastidip so be careful if you're using tire shine. I accidentally oversprayed the tireshine and when I tried to wipe it off the rim, off came the plastidip almost like it dissolved which was good since it was easy to touch it up as there were no jarring ends. By the way the tire shine I was using was Turtle was ultra wet tire shine. Kind of makes me think it would be a good way to remove plastidip if anyone wanted to get rid of it.

Oh and here's the link to the pics of the process in case you missed my other thread.

I'm not one for black wheels, but it looks like it came out nice.

To be honest I was on the fence myself. The only reason I went ahead was because I knew its a reversible decision in case it didn't come out good.

I've been wondering about this. I imagine people aren't painting the inside, but I wonder if there is sort of a sloppy overspray that is visible in daylight if you don't?

Yes and no. If you get really really close and look, you can see it. However, when looking from a slight distance, the overspray acts as a sort of shadowy illusion. Looks like the inside was painted.

Closer view. You can't really see those details until you get your head into the wheel well.

Would this be a good alternative to wrapping the car in Vinyl? If your looking at the full flat black look?

Not advisable to do a whole car [my personal opinion]. Although it might look ok it's got a pretty textured feel when you touch it. Once it starts chipping it will look like hell and you'll need to redo it quite often which won't be easy if you did the whole car. Painting the sides won't be easy either because it might run and then dry too quickly. I think its best used in moderation small areas that are easy to control.

Try it in a small area first like a gas cap or under the bumper which should help you make up your mind

Just did mine today, came out amazing! Took about 5 hours, 3 cans, 4 coats each. I used the index card method to prevent overspray on the tire. Probably my favorite mod yet!
GREAT IDEA!!
