I am pumped!!!!

Finally got to the dealership today to spec out the car!

Inferno Orange
Standard
Exposed Carbon Fiber Hood
Gray Stripe
Standard Rims
MSRP

Joey Lishia at Jerry's Chevrolet in Weatherford, Texas has been outstanding to work with and I would highly recommend him and the dealership. This is the second car I have purchased from him and the dealership and they have been fantastic.

What was also great today was that they mentioned that someone had pulled their order on one of their allocations and I was able to my best friend their last ZL1.

Do any of you have any actual pictures of the ZL1 in Inferno Orange with the black standard rims?

Excited to be a new member of a great site!

I'm so confused by this behaviour; Guy says he bought at MSRP, everyone buying a car, yet nobody knows how much it's going to cost them.

Before I bought my 2SS; I waited until one was available to test drive, then waited until I could get the MSRP and dealer pricing from APA. Then I negotiated from there. Yes I waited a few extra months (received it in May instead of March or April), but I got the best possible price.

Is it just me, am I missing something here or is this the way people buy cars nowadays (no pricing available)?

A. Some just don't care what the price is, they want one and they want it now.

B. Others have a limit in our heads (like me)...and we're confident enough in our own purchasing power and our predictions that we've grabbed an order for one of these hard-to-find cars while we could. Yet while it's a generous price limit...we all are prepared (and able) to cancel should price go WAY north of our expectations.

Some have other reasons...but I have to imagine the majority fall in column a, or b, above...

Pricing? Many have it in writing that they will not be charged over MSRP...whatever that is. And it's the principle here more than the number...

As far as test-driving...there's plenty of Camaro's out there, and this one is going to be a really, really, really, really, really fast SS.

I think it largely boils down to people scrambling as quickly as they can because of the '12 Z's very limited availability given the demand for one and half the MY being over...

He just bought at a promise of MSRP...whatever MSRP ends up being, nothing less nothing more. It is just up to each individual, some want an early production or a chance at one and they are OK with the price being unknown, others like yourself want to know the car and price first. I think most honestly believe the start price will be between 50 and 60 and are willing to chance it to be one of the "first to own" (I probably fit that catagory, but the price isn't as imporntant to me). Also, keep in mind most of the people who have orders in without the pricing also know if it comes out at some crazy price they can back out and wait for better prices down the road or buy something else...or nothing at all. Most dealers will give the deposit back and sell the car to someone else unless they ordered something out of the ordinary...I don't think your missing anything...it is just individual preferance

I figured there would be a group A.

Grop B makes sense if they can back out of the deal when they know what the price is going to be. Didn't know if that was possible. I guess I prefer to see all the cards before I make my bets.

As for limited avail.; There's been a lot of back / forth regarding limited production. Is there a max. production that may be reached or is it in fact a limited edition vehicle?

In a nutshell...the company has to estimate how many will be sold in a given time period, much like they had to do in 2008 with the first cars.

Based on this estimation, they dole out ZL1 guide numbers (which represents the number of Zs a dealer can order for the 2012 MY) to the dealers. It is a finite number for the period, because franchise laws hold them to this plan.

Given that half the MY is over, and what I have to assume are estimations based on the economic-forces the price will dictate, their estimations of production are low for right now...making it hard to get a car. To have over 3 ZL1s allocated to a dealer is fantastic news right now...some dealers get zero.

But there has not been any indication of a capped production number for the year...and it stands to reason the MY '13 ZL1s will not suffer from this issue, either...
