Gave Atco another try last night and still no improvement. The Street Slayer is either engaged or disengaged, not much in between as far as I can tell with my limited skills.

Pat was home waiting for his new silver 2015 Mustang GT.

I have one more idea.

I Beat Pat! Finally.

Drum Roll Please. I did it, I left Pat in the dust. See the run below.

Okay, so he was in his new 2015 Mustang GT Auto. He did have DRs! And I did red-light. LOL

But to be fair he did beat me the first time I ran him. I was taking my time at the lights trying to get a good launch and I over-reved 2nd and could not run him down.

But that GT is a really nice car. Pat always buys the base model, but in the 2015 it's no penalty box. Good looking too in silver. I will get a pic next time. He ran a number of 12.7s and his friend jumped in and ran a 12.5. Not bad for a car with under 200 miles and temp tags.

I never saw 2015 GT at the track yet, but for some reason there were four of them there. Pat's car was the fastest of course, including a really loud one.

His old car was there too. I tried to line up with it with the new driver but it did not work out. The new owner was having trouble sleeping at the light and could not get out of the 12s. Pat jumped in the car an ran a 3rd gear slipping 11.5 and then got it down to 11.2 before I left. What a shame. On this night I could have beaten both of Pat's last two cars. It won't last though. After driving his old car he said what an animal it was and he was saying the new Mustang can hold more power now with the beefier lower end. An then he looked at his car. Oh boy, I better enjoy this moment while I can.

I was messing around with the Camaro Launch Control. It worked great on the street, but on a prepped track with street ET Streets 4,000 RPM is not enough. Bog city. But it does free you up to work the clutch while you just press the gas pedal to the floor. My best of the night was an 11.80 something with a 2.0 something 60'. I will keep trying.

But even though my car is slow for what it is, it still draws the fans down from the stands for a look. They turn on their cell flashes so they can see the air filters and all of them give me kudos for giving it my best try with a stick and low boost. For now I have to be happy that 11.8 is faster than most cars in the lane.

I went back again to Atco Friday night. On the way there, weirdly, a deer ran in front of me in broad daylight. It was close but not that close. Why do they wait to run in front of you? Someone needs to show them some videos about what can happen when they do that.

Anyway it was a Friday night and the place got crowded fast. I only ran about once an hour. Tuesday night is better. One real slow down was the junior dragster. There was only one there. On one run it was having problems and they spent a good 15-20 minutes fooling around with it at the starting line. I am all for giving the kids a chance to race, but in that situation it should be pushed back to wait for the next round. Still Atco is a great track in my view overall.

The track prep was not that good so I was spinning instead of bogging. Probably that is a situation where the Camaro Launch control would come in handy. My most interesting run was against a serious little Chevy pick up. I knew it was fast so I left real early. My first bulb stat! I left so early he red-lighted. LOL. But it was no contest. At least I scared him with my huffing and puffing. He ran 11.1 @ 111 (He backed off early) to my 12.0 @ 127 (LOL on that MPH with a 12.0). And even though I left that early he jumped ahead with his 1.60 60'. Later he said that was not a good 60' for him. Once again track prep to blame.

Pat was there and we did not run. But he has the GT in the 12.4s. I thought you would like to see his new Mustang. Looks great in silver to me. He is really excited about how well the car is performing and all the new goodies the base Mustang GT has.

I went back to Atco last Friday. It was very hot, Mylink recorded 102 on the way there, LOL. But it was a dry heat.

There is something about a drag strip on a Friday night. It is more exciting somehow and there are more spectators who come out to watch mostly street and test and tune cars racing for fun and tuning.

I was trying my best to teach myself the Street Slayers engagement point. It is a very small window of movement. But I did manage to get a few runs that felt good. But the 60s were awful as I broke the lights before the actual launch. My worst 60' was 2.366 and my worst RT was 1.239 LOL.

I did race Pat a couple of times with the expected outcome. He says he is not getting antsy, but the speed shop he goes to is currently closed. Once it opens look out. I expect to be looking at those pretty 2015 Mustang tail lights soon. I love those sequential blinkers. The more I see that car the more I like it, especially in silver. Is there a GT350/500 In my future? Looking forward to the new GT500 5.0 twin turbo EcoBeast. Now that car will get me thinking.....

My last and best run of the night was after a long cool down and it felt pretty good even though I barely broke a 2.0 60'. But the best part was I ran a 2014 C7 Z51. It wasn't a fair run, he did not have DRs and was stock, but it felt good beating that car as I passed on buying a Stingray to build up my 1LE. I still have mixed feelings about wasting all this money, but I did have fun doing it just this once.

I am #212 below:

Are you switching up to Friday's or is it weather dependent?

Went to Atco last night. It was supposed to rain, but then the forecast changed and Atco decided to open. When that happens most people stay home, so there were very few cars there. But then it did rain a little and there was a rain delay.

I did have an upsetting car related phone call right before I left for the Test & Tune. But how can you stay angry when something amazing happens? See below. More on the car thing later if I need to bring it up.

Since they needed filler you could get in as many runs as you want. But I took the high road and gave the 1LE some rest. Once again the last run of the night was my best run, a 12.0. It was against Pat. I was focused on a good launch so I did not worry about RT. But this was Pat who shows no mercy to the sleeping. I gave him a .6 second head start and then ran him down. It was cool that Pat said my car looks and sounds awesome screaming by much faster than him on the top end. Others have said that too. It is a pretty car.

Well we like Tuesdays better because we can get in more runs. But Fridays seem like more fun with more cars and people there. And with more time between runs the car can cool off more and perform better. But if dodgy cars start raining fluids, it can be a long night.

Usually if Tuesday rains out Atco will open Thursday for the Gambler series. That also is a very empty night.

Maybe my next car will be an automatic so I can start being a Gambler with at least a small chance. Am I getting old?

They helped the car run straighter, but no ET improvement.

Sorry you wasted time/money on it.

I would go right to a street slayer.
Nick, you are spot on. I will never buy anything from Centerforce after the way they treated me and the things they said about their own clutch.

I'm sorry to hear that the DYAD let you down and also sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Did you get resolution on this from our customer service? We'd like to know more about it so that we can improve both our clutches and our service for our customers.

If you're curious, we do have a Clutch Diagnostics Guide that might be useful not just for our clutches but also for diagnosing clutch issues in general.
That clutch diagnosis guide is just there to make sure Centerforce can deny all warranty claims as I found out. The next time I buy anything I will do more internet searching. That would have prevented me wasting over $2,500 on the DYAD.

So far the Street Slayer Carbon has lasted twice as long as the DYAD with 4x the 1/4 runs and is still rock solid.

Following this thread has been interesting to say the least. Nice build you have there, but I am wondering what failed on your CenterForce?
I'm on my 2nd one, first one lasted 87000 miles and I have 27000 on my second one. Mine have been awesome. DD during the week and track on the weekends. I'm at just over 700hp since about 7000 miles, low 600s before that. Stock clutch started to slip shortly after the supercharger went on at 240 miles.
I finally wore out the LS in the diff at 103000 miles and I also noticed my left axle was about to fail. I rebuilt my stocker and added 1LE axles, knuckles and hub bearings and that's been the extent of my failures.
I'm currently building an LSX and I am planning on using another DYAD.
Just wondering why you've had so many issues, mine has a lot more miles and about 70track days, drag, auto-x and mostly road course.

Glad your DYADs worked out for you. Mine did not and I am not alone.

Here is the thread that explains what Centerforce told me about this clutch.

After reading both threads my personal opinion based on my experience is that the DYAD wasn't broken in correctly. It took me almost 1000 miles to feel like it was properly broken in. I have used CenterForce clutches for years with no issues and a few of my other friends with the higher HP 5th Gens have gone the DYAD route as well. 2 have done the McLeod and the Street Slayer and both have said they like the feel of the Centerforce better, they have had no issues with there choices, its purely a feel issue.
I do about 3500 miles a month, so a fair amount is in traffic and I must say it is a really nice driving clutch.
Reading the response from CenterForce it seems like they are still willing to work with you even after all this bad mouthing of there product. I would contact them and be polite. Working in customer service I understand what its like to be on the receiving end, customer service reps are paid to help, not to be verbally abused. Now I am not saying you were using foul language towards the c/s rep, but maybe your choice of language offended them. Over the years I have found out you get further by being nice and polite.
Sorry you've had all these issues with your car, I went thru that with a previous car and I know what its like to have your car down for long periods of time. I guess I have been lucky with my 5th Gen, its been rock solid.
Good luck in the future with yours.

Sorry you are wrong about the break in. Centerforce says 500 miles which I did, stop and go traffic with easy driving. If it takes 1,000 then they should specify that. And I did have that getting stuck in traffic on a steep incline during the break in. Which according to CF could not have ruined the clutch, but then just going up ramps can destroy it as they said. I also drove my 1LE up a steep flatbed, another no-no with the DYAD according to CF.

I was not bad mouthing the product, but mostly saying what Centerforce told me. I think the rebuild offer I got was as good as anyone gets. After listening to what was said about the clutch I did not want it back and I would not try to sell it to anyone else. Would you want a backup DYAD for $500 plus shipping? If you want to pay for it I could have it shipped to you.

I did mention that the DYAD has a smoother engagement than the Street Slayer, but it was noisier than the SS. No big deal though.

I do agree with your honey-vinegar-flies thought. Good advice. And I hope your 5th gen is good to you too. They are fun cars.
