I still think you should start over at another dealer. You don't have to duplicate it unless they request you do. Tell them that at high rpms when shifting into 3rd gear it grinds. You don't need to tell them it only does it on the track. I'm sure someone there will not have a problem driving a car like that.

One thing I did notice was my trans shifted much smoother after I did the service and I was way, way early doing that service but I thought it couldn't hurt. Especially on cold mornings it was "notchy" to shift cold and thats all gone now. I Always use the GM LS fluid on my diff for the ZL1. I'm not taking chances and I have another Camaro to mod and play with so this one is staying stock especially since I've got extended warranty.

Reason I say this? http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/02/us/fac...-costs-father/ Because of stupid stuff like that. (Obviously you're not some dumb teenager with a Facebook) I am rooting for you in this case though. Best of luck and keep us posted with updates. |

Thanks Dmpdix, I appreciate that. I know where the line is, there has already been one accident reported here on c5 that mentioned the soft 3rd gear clutch/brake system as a possible contributing factor. I would hate to be in GM's shoes with a jury in CA with all of the reports of the clutch problem. The ignition switch recall started here off of an accident, so....... There is now case history of GM failing to respond to a know problem, simply because it cost to much to fix....a whole $0.57
and here is where they are at now: http://www.lieffcabraser.com/Persona...t-recall.shtml |

Re-read that story, the clutch had nothing to do with the car losing traction. They said they were already out of control and the driver tried to downshift instead of being all in with both feet and then the clutch didn't come up off the floor. So, the clutch pedal did stick but well after the car was lost and you never downshift while sliding.

I read that story and starting LOL when they tried to say it was the problem of the clutch. Too fast for conditions, and not paying attention to the road, wants to get Chevy to pay for it......Seems legit, welcome to our new society "ENTITLED YOUTH!"

I re -read it, in CA you would still get sued...and lose, due to the shotgun approach that is take here and the hate for big business. I was a general contractor and had built a track in brentwood ca, I had a homeowner call me one wet cold night and inform me that his upstairs plumbing was leaking and destroyed all of their furniture downstairs. This particular guy also had asked me to purchase his house back due to family problems back in India, obviously I do not buy them back and told him no. I told him I would be there at 9am sharp as I lived 45 miles away. I got up at 5am and was welcomed to zero visibility fog, so I left at 6am to make the expected 3 hour drive through the fog. Surprise, the fog disapears 15 miles down the road, so I end up at his house 2 hours early, I decide to check to see if he is up yet. I walk up to the door and through the side light (glass) on the door area, I see him with a water hose spraying his furniture and ceiling down.....I run and get my video camera and tape him doing this for an hour and a half. At 8:45 away goes the hose. I knock on the door and get "craig my house and furniture are ruined due to that plumbing leak" so I show him the video and say "we are done here". Fast forward 6 months to court and him on the stand "your honor, I can explain the video, I was trying to get the urine smell from the plumbing leak out of my furniture"
Fast forward: We order you to pay Mr Mandir $72,000 for the damage from the plumbing "leak"... Anyone with a business in CA does not want to go to court under ANY circumstances, even when there is no doubt you have zero liability, like the idiots in the above story speeding into blind corners at 2am....in the fog and rain.... |

Just to chime in. I have about 7k on my car I bought in Aug. I've had a 1-2 grind at high rpm since new. At least since I had started opening it up at about 500+ miles. Redline made it better but it still reers it's ugly head every once in a while. I was going to complain but I doubt much will be done about it. If here is an aftermarket fix I would be more likely to go that route.
