There's a bunch of other lounges that we can talk off topic stuff in. The V8 lounge was a place that V8 guys could talk to other V8 guys about V8 things, and get off topic once and awhile. These specific lounges have been this way for awhile now, so why bother changing it? And no disrespect, but why are you guys worrying about our off topic posts when some troll is busy porn spamming the shit out of this site
I don't see off topic posts by knowledgable guys who are helping AND having fun doing it a bad thing.
This is one of those tough calls that we chose to make to help keep traffic moving it the proper forum/subforum.

if someone see's lounge in the title, the general assumption is it's for V8 guys to talk about anything... V8 stuff included..

As such we try and keep those threads in the place where people expect to find them... "off topic"

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but at least we are trying to be consistent.

But here's the thing, now the off topic is flooded with lounges: V8, V6, PWA, Ladies', Men's, and detailers. Plus whatever else there is. I know I post in a lot of those lounges at the same time so at night the off topic section is going to be filled with stuff. Previously it was spread out nicely.
FWIW I'm glad that you're actually working with us here, and I hope we can make some type of compromise with this so I don'y have to leave. I really don't want to leave

How about making everyone happy at once, since i'm sure the other "lounges" are PMing yall as well. Why not put the lounges in each sections stickied section? Since few people actually utilize them, the threads won't be in the way. They won't be moving up and down the thread lists and as people stay here longer, they can pop in there to relax. It would also keep them handy for those that hang out in there and still be able to keep an eye on the other threads in our respective sections.

I was just thinking this. I know when I go into a section I don't even look at the stickies anymore, I just look at the top threads. If we sticky the lounges, we move them away from the regular threads, and some people wouldn't even see it. Then we keep this thread un stickied and it will always be near the top so people get answers to their questions. I think that's a very fair compromise

This is a good idea.

No kidding... to my knowledge... and I may not have all the information...

You guys are the only angry mob at this time..

give it a chance... if we are obviously wrong then we'll change it back...

in general Lounges are for off topic discussions.

"help desk" as you guys have brilliantly called this thread, fit's perfectly in the technical forums.

I gotta run... need to be up early for work.

Feel free to hit me up with any concerns or questions as they come up.

I understand what you're thinking is, but members tend to stay in the section they are comfortable with. Putting the lounges in a completely different section will effectively kill them.

I just sent this to GTAHVIT. What do you guys think? I think this is a compromise, and a great plan

Okay here we go.
First off, I want to thank you for working with us instead of basically telling us tough shit. That's what pissed me off and made me want to leave. Now let's get to business with this. I think the help desk is an EXCELLENT idea that will help consolidate the typical "WHAT CAI D00 I US3? PLEEZ HEALP". Since that thread will help trim down the section, I think it should remained un-stickied so we can see when there's a question and we can easily respond to it. Next thing is the lounge. It is useless in the off topic section as I have previously stated in my other posts. The dynamic is completely ruined now. I know you said to try it this way, but I say we try it both ways
Leave the other lounges in off topic, and sticky ours in the V8 section. I think this would be a lot better since A) we'll be happy again and B) we consolidate stupid questions with the help desk. We help you guys out via the help desk, you help us by not wrecking our home on here. There's less clutter in the sections, and we don't annoy you anymore. Win, win in my book. If this model works out, we can implement it with the other lounges and sections where each section has a stickied lounge, and an un-stickied help desk. Let me know what you think
Mike
