It's not too much to ask, but it'll likely change the dynamic of the thread. Those people that are searching for real information are starting new threads asking the same question over and over. They can come in here and ask a question and get and answer without wasting any more than a few posts back and forth. No one was going to read the 100+ pages of the V8 lounge looking for information. They would ask on the tail end and add to the next 100+ pages.

It is obviously your call, but I don't think anyone on the receiving end sees it the same way.

And I absolutely love the idea of a thread like this. if it becomes really active with technical discussions, it should be a sticky.

And we struggle to find the balance... I'm not crying BUT... LOL.

It is hard to keep everyone happy when these issues come up.

the people in the thread don't want us messing up a good thing. But the title of the thread draws people to it with a certain expectation...

There's no clear easy choice to make... sure sometimes we try to predict an outcome and make a mess... but other times we guess right and good threads stay good threads... I'm guessing it's more luck than talent when we get it right...

So in the spirit of getting this thread back on topic we'll get out of here and leave it be...

and only ask that you guys be patient with us...

All we're asking is if this thread is to be a technical thread then keep the off topic chat to a minimum...

if you want to have a lounge then so be it. But at the end of the day we have to make a decision as to where a thread belongs based on its content...

it has nothing to do with who is posting in the thread. It's simply our attempt to make the information in the thread readily available to those who may be looking for it.

Most people will give up on a technical thread when they see it full of off topic posts.

So how bout you guys cut us some slack and at least give some consideration to why we are cleaning up threads and sub forums.

There is an entire section dedicated to lounge'n and catching up with friends.

All we're asking is you guys try and keep it on topic for those that are searching for real information.

Nope not much to ask at all, we all try to answer the technical questions in the new threads that start and usually the same questions over and over. Nobody searches anything. Every 10 new threads is usually the same question. We sorta link threads to other threads that answer their questions. Look at Apex's threads he's done a good job of a sticky worthy thread yet nobody looks at them lol.

No not at all.

If I was upset at all it was the posts about us being ego maniacs and the insinuations that we are dishonestly pushing business to our sponsors that had some sting to them...

outside of that we would much rather work with you guys to keep this thread rolling in the right direction so people don't ignore good threads and can get answers quickly.

and to be honest. if you can get this site running so smoothly that we don't need this smiley anymore... I for one will let you do what ever you want around here...

Okay I'm chiming back in. I think this thread is great as technical discussions, but when you move our V8 lounge away from the V8 section, we're going to want to talk about V8 stuff in here! The V8 lounge was a mix of off topic AND bolt on discussions where people would come in and ask us things. That dynamic has changed now. Why even bother having a V8 lounge? There's a bunch of other lounges that we can talk off topic stuff in. The V8 lounge was a place that V8 guys could talk to other V8 guys about V8 things, and get off topic once and awhile. These specific lounges have been this way for awhile now, so why bother changing it? And no disrespect, but why are you guys worrying about our off topic posts when some troll is busy porn spamming the shit out of this site
I don't see off topic posts by knowledgable guys who are helping AND having fun doing it a bad thing.

You've been here long enough to know that many noobs won't search for anything. They all want to be spoon fed any and all information that they desire. Hell, they don't even read the stickies.

Can we at least get our V8 lounge stickied in it's section?
