Pewter is gray. Camaro's pewter isn't. Here's a clip from a site about actual pewter- "Pewter alloy is made of tin, bismuth, antimony, and sometimes copper or silver, depending on the alloy your artisan has selected for a specific item. Colonial pewter often contained lead to give it strength. Lead causes old pewter to turn it's characteristic dark gray color. Lead free pewter softens to a very light gray patina." So the pics you posted are completely different, yes, but they are both some shade of gold. Pewter is Silver/Gray. The pewter on the 4th Gens is in the same category (for me) as 'Champagne', and any color that is vaguely cream or tan-like. It's like a fusion of 'sand' and silver. It shouldn't be on anything but an SUV or truck... It's just not 'sporty' enough for a car, especially a Camaro. (IMO) Last edited by EllwynX; 05-22-2007 at 09:04 AM. |

My car is pewter and sometimes people call it silver... I get angry
lol Pewter has more of the metallic look in the paint and thats why I like it. But I hope when the new ones come out they have more of a charcoal color, kind of like this...

I see your point now EllwynX (about the shades of gold and all) and how pewter should be a gray(er) color. At first, I didn't think the pewter was sporty either. My dad was kind of the one who talked me into that color saying it was classier and appeared to be easier to keep clean. No, I wasn't crazy about it when I got my 00 Camaro or 02 Z28, but after a while, it grew on me. My buddies 01' SS (pewter in color) looked sporty as hell w/ those SLP center center exhaust tips, lowered, aftermarket rims...yeah...it was nice and pewter.

I don't know. I guess my eyes might be playing tricks on me cause the first two appear to have somewhat of a green tinge to them. However, that last one is right on the money and looks bad @ss!!! Actually, yeah..I think I might be getting pewter w/ blk stripes.

I was thinking the same thing Tag...kind of an "olive drab" tint to the first two pics. In the last one (the head on pic) the color looks pretty good. I think I too prefer the Silver to the Pewter (I too have always called it Champagne or Sandstone (comes from my days at the Lexus dealer though), but it doesn't look bad at all.
I think someone said in another thread at one point, you could paint the 5th Gen pink with polka dots and we're still gonna wanna drive the hell out of it.... As much as I don't really want another dark vehicle (my last truck was Dark Carmine Metallic (I called it Burgandy)) to keep clean, I think I'm leaning towards one of Dragon's choices....Dark Blue with White stripes...although, I do like that Charcoal Gray with Silver Ghost stripes and chrome wheels. I figure the Camaro is much smaller than either of my trucks or my wife's Tahoe that keeping it clean won't be as big a deal. |

That's the issue I'm having - sorta - I think I want a dark color, and the black or blue with silver stripes is great, but I also want a bright car i.e. silver with blue or black stripes just as much...aw well, you were right though, silverado...pink with polka dots is hot lol!

I was the one who posted about the pink. It was about the new Supervette and it was Periwinkle blue polka dots. I'd rock that bitch and have PSSYWGN for a vanity plate.

I've been wanting to do a chop at speed ever since this pic was posted.
I finally got around to it. TAG, I did one in the PEWTER w/ blackrims and Z28 graphics just for you. I also did one in white because I really like the way it looks. I would love to see one on the highway or better yet, be the guy driving.
